According to NBC, the Saints will bring in veteran John Carney for a tryout this week, while other free agent kickers such as former Bengal Shayne Graham, long-time Texan Kris Brown and former Raven Matt Stover may also get consideration.

Can't blame Payton.

Hartley is missing badly on kicks that NFL Kickers should make 95% of the time.

You kind of knew something was up when Hartley missed 4 of 5 FGs (or something like that) in the live workouts with the Texans

You have to do this, even if it's just to light a fire under Hartley's emo arse

You have to. No matter how much they love Hartley. He can't be 4-7 with all 3 misses in the Dome.

Can't blame SP. Two of the three misses have been chip shots.

I keep hearing mad rumors about his partying, staying out till wee hours in the morning, dating girls with drug problems, drinking ect ect ect. the guy is a good kicker and needs a serious reality check or his career will spiral down till he's jobless.

Sp had no choice if even to just get him focused. 29 yd fg's with a good snap and good blocking should go thru the uprights 99% of the time. hope this is his 1%. should not get another chance on a miss inside 30 yds. imo. As sp said on nfl radio this am, we had several "wide lefts" in the game from other players. It shouldn't haven't come down to that.

I have an idea...We will trade you guys John Kasay (a little old but VERY dependable) for Hartley and then Hartley can QB for us....He is bound to be better than what we got...

Heard they're bringing in a soccer-style kicker from Germany

Mark Brunell was the holder last year. Morestead, the punter, is holding this year. The long snapper, Kyle, was there last year as well.

THAT IS THE REASON!!! You don't switch holders. I was wondering why Hartley kept looking at the hold after he kicked it. He clearly is not comfortable with the holder. Damn that coach P.

in my strong opinion, you should always have a punter (or specific special teams guy) work to hold for your kicker as opposed to a backup qb (for example), who should be focusing full-time on, say, knowing the offense in case of injury.

Well, Mark Brunell left via free agency. The Saints didn't want him back. I saw nothing wrong with Morestead's hold on the kick yesterday.

I think they need to bring in some competition but I dont think Hartley is going anywhere.

I do believe they need to play with holding. I do believe there is chemistry issues with Morestead holding. Morestead has never held before at any level. I think they need to get Daniel some work there and think about making a holding change.

On the last kick, Morestead didnt move after the kick. I didn't see anything wrong with the hold but something just wasnt right. Morestead reaction after the kick and then the way Hartley looked down after the kicked as if something was wrong with the hold. Both of their reactions leasds me to believe something was off with the game winning attempt.
