You said we were going to run and the falcons had to have expected the run to stop that since we only got 3 yards on 2 obvious run downs.... Come on AJF, i'm applying your theories...
No, Chad. You're the one who theorized running on first and second down. I'm applying past game knowledge that the Saints weren't going to get shite on those runs.

Regardless of how we can play out stupid theories in our heads, calling for the FG on first down was the right call.

You should take all of your shots to score. If you run two plays and get no yards you can still try the same kick, but you might get a touchdown or a closer kick. A kick on fist down is not the best call.

Not on 1st down. And I think you'll see a different strategy if there is a next time.

Im pretty sure Payton used the same strategy against the Redskins last year. I agree, he probably won't do that again.

I looked it up, guess where the ball was placed when we kicked that field goal? Spoiler below...

We had a 2nd and 1 from the 1 yard line. Again, the odds on that kick with trajectories are much better than a 30 yd kick.

This conversation reminds me of the comments made by the Manning brothers after the Super Bowl Eli won. That being to the effect that they prefer to have to come back from more than three down, as they know that if the can win by a field goal, the coach will be much more conservative, which they didn't like.

The man won and f'ing super bowl for us. Unless he misses his next 5 kicks he shouldn't go anywhere.

I have no idea why coaches line up to kick field goals when they still have downs/time available. With all the things that can go wrong in a kick, why would you not want your hall of fame quarterback to lead you into the end zone and seal the deal.

Wait till the playoff OT rules start. You can't kick FG's to win the game on first down then.

Just sayin.
