I'm told Chase Young is expected to sign a 1-year deal with the $Saints worth up to $13M, per source.

And I would not be surprised if the cap hit is under $5M

he's a 1 yr bandaid to help get production.

cam winding down
payton turner year 4 of doing jack shite
granderson gives steady reps
chase young will probably be good for 7-11 sacks
foskey can bring them waters when needed.

Need to draft someone else now on the d-line like Verse or Fisk.

Ya now have three top 40 picks at DE under the age of 26, you got Cam who carries one of the highest cap #s on the team, and ya got your best pash rusher in Grandy. Not sure we can invest any more cap or roster space at the position

DT is definitely a need though

Nick Bosa - 10.5 sacks
Salary: $34mm

Young - 7.5 sacks
Salary: $13mm

I'll take the prove it deal and maybe have a guy we can invest in if he shows anything

He's 24, a former elite prospect that went #2 overall, won rookie of the year, and had 7.5 sacks last year. Our defense has done a good job of improving defenders from other teams under DA. What isn't there to like? For 1 yr $13M, if he sucks, oh well. There was nothing close to a value like this out there in FA.

We really just need a good big fat run stuffer to pair with Bresee. There's still some FAs out there who could end up pretty cheap.

We need a solid DT which we had with Roach? And I decent OT then trade some of those 5,6 and 7 get back and pick up 4 or 5 bpa in the top 100.

Michael Hall Jr. Is a name to remember in the second round he's a defensive tackle and he's from Ohio State and the Saints love them some Ohio State.

He’s a beast. Lot of good tackles on both sides of the line in the top 50

Why aren’t we talking about Byron Murphy more? He can rush the passer and play the run well. I guess because he’s not a space eater? Which is probably what we need next to Bresee.

how can anyone hate this? 1 year prove it deal for a 24 year old athletic freak who is a former 2nd overall pick.

if it doesn't work he's off the books next year. if he does you lock him up long term. if someone throws the bank at him you get a 3rd round compensatory pick. what's the risk here?

Are there any examples of disappointments like Young putting it together ? He seems destined to go the clowney route, he’ll keep getting deals from teams hoping for the turnaround

I don’t expect much but him playing motivated is the only chance we have at generating a pass rush next season so I don’t hate taking the shot.
