He was, but he's pretty old now (35). The depth doesn't hurt, though. IIRC, he's been pretty durable despite his size and age. I thought Spears would have an outside shot of making the 53, but he must have been pretty awful in OTAs.

I think he did fairly well filling in at DT last year in Seattle due to injury.

5 time pro bowler. Would doubt they expect him as a everyday starter but looks like a good pick for vet depth.

Just let him pop a few Star Caps & he'll be good to go.

I remember last year on Sirius about how good of a locker room presence he was. If I recall, Pat kirwan, who is friends with Pete carroll, was saying this. Hopefully will bring some leadership to defense that needs a leader, and should play decent role for depth in stuffing the run.

Our OLB goes down so we sign a 35 year old DT. How logical.

In the FWIW department, the Saints traded a 1st round draft pick to move up so we could draft Jonathan Sullivan BEFORE Williams was drafted.

The question is more, "Does he have anything left in the tank?" Was a very good player...was...if nothing else, he should be a quality backup, if needed.

He started all the playoff games for the Seahawks. If he is completely out of gas, it happened after the Super Bowl.
