Since you couldn't reach high enough to catch what was over your head, I was calling out your ridiculous statement that we should only be cutting woman beating TPOS thugs due to the current state of public opinion. The ethical stance is that Paeyton had no choice due to the egregious actions of TPOS Gallette period, current "climate" be damned. You come off as being in the Bonethug camp of ignoring bad behavior with your statement

Junior playing the victim card. This was a self inflicted gun shot

Does he have to give back all the basketballs, too?

Probably one of Smith, Vilma, or Shanle. They and Galette were going at it a few offseasons back.

so if this was a direct result of his off the field stuff, what took so long?

Gallette is a piece of shite, but you guys gave that piece of shite a lot of $$ so you knew the risks.

Mind boggling how it comes out now that he was such a huge locker room problem. Was that some kind of secret before they doled out that big contract?

thinking much of it was saints waiting for goodell to meet with junior and whatever possible implications that could have had for team's options.

I think after last year, it was a paradigm shift for the entire organization. No longer going to put up with the baggage and headaches just because of talent.

Except that he wasn't a locker room cancer until last season. Loomis, Payton and all were callin him the perfect example of hard work and loyalty in their system. Which is why they rewarded him with that big contract. I guess he just lost his mind after getting that contract. Some people can't handle prime time!

It's not always clear what happened, what's true, and what the penalties will be. Furthermore, due to the extent of the cap hit, they couldn't just outright cut him without knowing how it will affect the cap for the next 2 years. Plus, whenever you release a starter, you have to make sure you either have someone in lien to replace him or the ability to go get that guy. And that has to be factored in with the affect of the cap hit.

Bottom line, there was no rush. TC hadn't started and he wasn't at OTAs because of the pec injury. Therefore, the "locker room cancer" aspect would not affect the team. He didn't have any upcoming bonus money in that time frame. So, it would make sense that they would wait until the last possible moment to get as much information (and see if they can get cap relief) before cutting him.

@nick_underhill: Asked Junior for an interview. He told me to do things that were, umm, not polite.
