You would piss and moan no matter what, but that doesnt change the fact that guys like Josh Rosen, Mitch Trubusky, etc are first round qb’s who flopped. You literally think 1st round qb’s are guaranteed to be successful. Theyre not dipshit.

Also, if the saints draft a 1st round qb they would do the way they almost did with Brees/Mahomes. So keeping Carr is OBVIOUS. Now shut the frick up!

Top 5 reasons we didn't:
1. Bad OL, can't consistently pass protect or run block
2. Bad offensive play calling, very very predictable
3. A DL that can't generate a pass rush
4. Inconsistent plays from your supposed #1WR
5. Obvious head coach flaws for adjustments or lack thereof at the half...

Was stafford a good qb at Detroit? 74-90-1 (.451) and 0-3 in playoffs. At Carr's current age, stafford had never won a playoff game. Did he become good when he won the Super Bowl or did LA want him bc he was already good?

The Rams had a roster built to win a Super Bowl and an elite coaching staff around Stafford.

We have neither around Carr.

Yes. I have said many times. Our roster, coaching staff, and cap situation create a hard ceiling that no QB other than the top tier (Mahomes, Allen) could could elevate.

Exactly why you don't break the bank for a guy like Carr, who won't move the needle.

And so were Jameis, Dalton, Semien, etc. in the past, right?

Lots of shite went wrong those years. Hell, Semien was Jameis's backup and what was our record?

I agree with you that restructuring Carr is a big mistake. Even the cap stuff aside, I'd prefer to have the option to move off him after next year.

That said, it feels like you're going a little far to try and prove your point. Carr is way better than Siemian or Jameis. That can be true and he can still be also far off from the top shelf guys. If the team managed the roster better and had a better coaching staff, I feel like they could win a lot of games with Carr.

Slo don’t even know what the shot he’s trying to say other than an obvious cap restructure that was always 90% planned to happen sets us up for an obvious 2 more years locked in w Carr. This team will ride or die with Dennis allen and Derek carr for the next 2 years. Support them and see what happens or anything g else is just a petulant bitch for the sake of being a petulant bitch.

Why not just do this for all sports in general then right ? Support the team shitty decisions and all no matter what.

For example, if say you wanted this certain QB to start that you have a bit of an obsession with, if he doesn’t start you shouldn’t piss and moan in every QB thread that he should be starting. You accept the team’s decision and give them all your love and support, otherwise you’re just being a petulant bitch

Never understood the need to announce it.

That is because in the sports reporting world there are two seasons of football. Fall/winter when the games are played and Spring/Summer when the draft is held, spring workouts, trades, free agency, coaching changes, training camp, etc. It is a year round sport. Heck even in the college ranks with National signing day and spring football scrimmages it definitely makes it a year round sport.

Not sure what this has to do with a random poster announcing they're leaving. Seems just leaving would be sufficient.

Supporting a player on the team. Oh man I bet you can’t see the forest from the trees.

Chad I'm shocked you weren't happy to see me say I'd rather Taysom start and earn his inflated salary than pay an even more inflated salary for Carr, for the same results.

I think this is your problem Slo. Carr is a much better QB than Taysom, Jameis, Dalton or Semien. He isn’t as good as Mahomes or Lamar, but he’s better than some journeyman QB. If one of those other guys was our QB, we wouldn’t have sniffed the playoffs. You think he’s a journeyman QB and should be paid as such.

I think Carr is a solid QB, and I agree he is better than all those you mentioned. If our Oline plays even average we probably have another win or 2 earlier in the year. Brees mentioned it was 08 before he truly learned the offense and in 06, 07 it was slowed down for him. Carr got thrown in the not so slowed down offense, and Carr isn't a timing QB like Brees either.

A good OC that can tailer to Carr can make him a decent QB with a good oline. As far as some posts about Taysom Hill and his contract, I'll take his contract. Taysom Hill has been one of the main bright spots offensively the last few years. I don't think he is overpaid for what he has done and showing no signs of slowing down even with his age.

He definitely is not overpaid for what he can do and what he brings to the team. But he is overpaid for how Carmichael used him.

Wonder if we'll see Taysom used more in line with some of the plays that were drawn up for Samuel in SF; obviously with the running & receiving usages flipped.

Buddy still talks like he was right about Taysom

2nd on the team in yards from scrimmage in 2022, led the team in TDs

4th in yards from scrimmage in 2023, led the team in TDs

Taysom worked in spite of the offensive scheme.

This was the least creative year I've seen for Taysom by far.
