Assuming (and hoping) that 3 QBs, 2 RBs, 1 WR, and 1 OT goes in picks 1 - 10, the Saints should have their pick of a group of quality defenders in a draft that is looking for heavy on offense for the first 10 picks.

Possible Offensive Players to be drafted before 11:
Deshaun Watson - QB
Mitch Trubisky - QB
Deshone Kizer - QB
Leonard Fournette - RB
Dalvin Cook - RB
Mike Williams - WR
Cam Robinson - OT

As far as defenders who will more than likely be gone by 11:
Myles Garrett - DE
Jonathan Allen - DE
Reuben Foster - MLB

If the draft plays out like that, we could have our pick of:
Jamal Adams - S
Derek Barnett - DE
Tim Williams - OLB
Quincy Wilson - CB
Jabrill Peppers - S/CB

Any would be a great fit in Black & Gold, with my preference being Derek Barnett, Tim Williams, and Jamal Adams

think we can almost with certainty say that 2 of these will go in the top 10, doesn't matter as long as 2 do.

Myles Garrett - DE
Jonathan Allen - DE

Locks to go in top 10.

Leonard Fournette - RB
Mike Williams - WR
Cam Robinson - OT

Virtual locks to go in top 10. Last 2 purely based on position.

That gets you to 7. So 3 more of these go and then you pick from the rest...

"Everyone" is a top 10 lock. I've seen like 25 players named and there's always someone saying "that" player has no shot of being available at 11

As it is today you can't say that for certain like you can for others.

Not sure how much this needs to matter but tim williams has already turned 23.

If Cam Robinson is somehow there, do you take him?

i don't know if his value is that great at 11 but if he can play right side which i think he's been more of a LT guy, he's definitely got the potential to be a solid pick, definitely on the radar for saints.

There is more volatility in draft slots for RBs, WRs, DBs imo. LF, Adams, Williams, Peppers etc

Pass rush studs like Barnett go top 10 unless he bombs at the combine

Some might say that Malik Hooker is a better safety prospect than Peppers. Is he worth the 11?

Both he and Adams are better prospects for sure than Peppers, but Peppers has that "Honey Badger" quality that makes him intriguing.

What are the needs of the teams in front of us? Offense/defense? That might provide a better clue.

Agreed. I'm just saying his stock based on early credible mocks and evals are as high as top 6 but as low as 2nd round. That's really what I was getting at saying "you can't say that he's a lock today." I don't think anyone has LF, Williams, top OT not going in the top 10.

Wake me up on the morning of the draft and I'll tell you about 7 of the top 10 locks. This shite is so fluid up until the day of the draft, and there are still 2-3 surprises.

I know we 98% have to go defense with the 1st pick, but man Mike Williams was so nasty and impressive Saturday. Was the first time I actually sat and watched him. Having him and Thomas as our future WR core would be an awesome look. Trade Cooks while we can, have the 2 big guys on the outside with Snead working the middle. It's a nice thought at least.

With that said, Barnett is a lock at #11 if he's still there. Doubtful though.

Truth.

Barnett > Garrett

Garrett maybe the most physically gifted end in the draft but he isn't that much more gifted than Barnett.

Two things stick out when watching these two play. Garrett has speed, power & flexibility of an elite pass rusher. With that said, at times he can be over powered when teams run right at him. Many of his TFLs come from backside pursuit when teams run away from him. Stamina also seems like an issue for him. You can see him a lot of times gasping for air, hands on hips during games & having to "take plays off."

Barnett on the other hand is relentless, play after play. There are no plays off with him & no stamina issues. He has all the pass rushing techniques mastered. If a tackle takes the outside swim move away, he goes to the inside dip & rip which then sets up his power bull rush. Run at him, it's a problem. Ran away from him, he will track a RB down. Barnett has no weaknesses. He is the real deal & an immediate impact player on day one.
