I don't get it. We have the exact same personnel as last year (o-line, WRs, TE, Bush, Bell, Pierre, Lynell) except Mike Karney and Deuce McAllister.

How are we running the ball so effectively last year vs last year? Is it all due to Heath Evans?

Carl Nicks has been a huge impact. We started Nesbit in the beginning of last year, until he got suspended. Also, when Pierre started to get most of the touches last year we were good.

The last 6 games last year, we avg 4.6 per carry. So this isnt shocking.

1. Practice
2. Brees has teams in nickel or dime most games
3. Bell/Thomas running great
4. Reggie starting to run decent between the tackles.

This may just be a shot in the dark...

but our running is doing very well without Jamal Brown. Could it be that the ProBowl Tackle can't run block???

I think alot of it has to do with Payton's play calling. He's mixing in the right plays, with the right people. He finally figured out that Bush isn't a feature back.

I've thought Brown was overrated for a while. We've been able to convert 3rd and shorts but Payton still likes throwing screens in those situations. I think we already have more yards in 3 games this year than we did all of last year . There has been more balance this year, I think Payton would have thrown the ball more in the situation of today's game last year than he did today. So there is improvement. As for Brown, we'll find out if he was the problem when he comes back

Brown is an above average tackle. I don't know why people bash him so much.

I think it is probably just getting into a rythym. Pass and run blocking are different such different skills. Another thing is that we've been playing with a lead all year, which gives us a chance to pound it. But i dont care, keep doing whatever it is. Who dat.

we're running better backs (less bush, more bell/thomas) and evans is much better than stone feet karney

some of it may be the new O-line coach - Marrone left after last season - seems the line does a better job of slanting this year allowing nice cutbacks...
