Rita Benson LeBlanc says she will remain a partial owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans despite a recent settlement over ownership of the city's two major professional sports teams, according to a story published Monday in Street and Smith's Sports Business Daily.
"No matter what happens in the litigation," Benson LeBlanc told reporter Bruce Schoenfeld, "I'll still be a partial owner."

As long as she's not a majority owner with votes, don't care
Posted on 6/27/16 at 8:13 pm to htran90
She never had voting shares. Those were never in the trusts.
As long as Tom doesn't will them to her she'll never have a say in team affairs.
All she can do is collect a check.

Highly recommend reading that entire story linked on Nola.com for a good laugh.
Can't wait to get Jazzy Jeff's take

She'll contest the will and lose again.

But you don't mind Gayle being majority owner?

Nope
Why do you?

she knows absolutely nothing about running a professional sports franchise

She's not going to be running the franchise so we're good.
Literally the entire FO and coaching staff put out vibes about quitting if Rita took over. Think about that for a minute or 20.

Luckily she's been assuming that role already.
And Rita didn't exactly shine in the organization with the repeated suspensions. Hence this entire situation
Also lucky that we have an established management team in place
Basically any new owner would have the same issue, so I guess the only option is for Benson to love forever?

I'm still waiting on our esteemed journalists to tell us why she got suspended all those times. I know there were rumblings about her fricking the players but it'd be nice if news guys worked for a living for once.

Or why she went through all those assistants
I just want an owner that stays out the way and let's the management team do their job. Somehow the Packers manage without even having a majority owner.

There was a guy on here who said he knew someone who got fired for saying good morning to her
Posted on 6/27/16 at 9:31 pm to EmperorGout
Well if he said it on a Monday, he deserved it

I get that. And trust me I'm not saying Rita should become majority owner. I would assume the current hierarchy of Laschua, Loomis, and Payton would continue to run things. Do you think that plan is viable long term? I don't. The front office will have no one to hold them accountable. What happens when those guys go on a power trip and start butting heads? Can Gayle step in and assert the leadership needed? Gayle would probably side with the person who buddies up to her the most. God forbid, but say the rails come off the next several yrs and it's time to clean house. Can she make that call when it's needed to be done? Another worrisome issue is when the ownership/front office is a mess that shite usually rolls down hill and will effect on- field performance. I just think it's going to be a delicate situation that might blow up in everyone's face

So who should be majority owner, that will keep the team in Nola, and has experience running a professional franchise?
Why can't Laschua, the President, hold those underneath him accountable?
One could argue that Benson hasn't held Loomis and Payton accountable either although I would disagree.
Almost anyone who could own the team would have similar issues...and likely less experience with a pro franchise than she will have when she officially takes over

shite could go bad, sure. But the fact that Payton, by far the best coach this team has ever had, was so worried about a Rita takeover that he attempted to give himself an out contractually scared the shite out of me. You don't see coaches do shite like that; you just don't see it. The league had to step in and void his contract, for christ's sakes.
All in all I'd rather go with the Laschua/Loomis/Payton triad even though they've frustrated me at times.
On the flipside, you wanna trust Rita to hire someone?
