He's given up 10 QB hurries(2nd only to Lelito's 11), 6 sacks(next closest is 3), and has the most penalties on our offense.

He struggled in a few games, but Armstead has missed time, lelito has missed time, and evans has missed time. He looked slow and terrible against TB and the 1st drive of dallas

So the comparison to the rest of the oline seems silly, especially since he plays T. His improved play is a big reason we've been able to turn it around

Browner has 14 penalties with only a -3 penalty grade. Absolute horseshite. There isn't a game he played where he should have been over -1, meaning he should be at least -8.

Plus I swear at least half of them came on third downs where we would have gotten off of the field, which should be worse. A few of those led to the offense scoring.

thought this was about right on SR...

I was listening to Bill Polian on Late Hits on Sirius on Tuesday night. A Saints fan called in complaining about Brandon Browner's play. Polian said that he called the game on Sunday for some station. Polian said that he thinks that the problem is the Saints defensive coaches, not Browner. He said a coach's job is to put a player in a position to succeed. He mentioned that you did not see anywhere near this problem from Browner last year with the Patriots, despite the fact that Browner was the same player with the same strengths and weaknesses. Polian said that the Patriots understood Browner's limitations, so they would give him help after the first seven yards. Browner could use his size and aggression for the first five yards and then ease up knowing that he would have help behind him after that. The Saints' coaches leave Browner on an island play-after-play as he racks up pass interference penalties, when they should scheme around what the player is capable of.

And unfortunately it doesn't look like they are going to use Browner any different.

gigantic props to Cameron Jordan. He got the bucks and got better. A playmaker that has to be accounted for by offenses. Just seeing a Saints player at the top of any defensive position is kinda like eating some delectable food but you aren't quite sure how yer sposed to eat it.

Use him differently? shite they have him covering tight ends. Not many other ways he can be used. He's just a liability at this point.

That's somewhat right but he was still at the top of the league in penalties last year.

I have to give the FO props for next man up. It has worked well with several players. Bushrod comes to mind first. Occasionally tho you prolly question some of those. Lelito was like that for me. I never saw anything that warranted trusting him as a starter. He had a helluva lot more reps before starting than Bushrod did too. Still hoping for him to continue progress but won't be surprised if it is a different body there next year at this point.

Shocker value is that Evans has looked legitimate, at least average. If that continues we can fix one side at a time in th next 2-3 years.

I think we all, including the coaches, know his limitations. Like Chad said the problem is we haven't had a healthy Keenan Lewis to put opposite Breaux instead of Browner. He's had to play one on one. Now why we're not shading safety help over to his side I don't really know. But having Byrd barely back from his own injury probably hasn't helped a ton either.

I may be in the minority but Jahri climbing out of the coffin was one of the things that encouraged me the most

Random Thoughts:

Surprised our LBer core is so low considering how well they've played. That rough 1st couple of games by Anthony is probably what hurt.

I actually thought edebali has played fairly well lately. Richardson is a really good run stopper,I think he could be a really solid piece if he works on his pass rush.

Kyle Wilson has been another underrated signing. People said he was just a slot guy but he's played well overall.

Can't wait for the Breaux/Swann/Keenan trio. Wilson/Browner can be quality depth guys.

People aren't talking enough about KVs bounceback.

Unger is a huge upgrade

The fact that Ben Watson is an overall negative, and far into the negatives at that, shows me PFF once again trys too hard and misses the mark

He is in the negative because of his run blocking score. His 'pass' (receiving) score is posisitve. Are you going to tell me you watch him run block on every down and can confirm he is actually a good run blocker and PFF has no idea what they're talking about?

If you do, I know you're lying. People just have a hard time reading when they're looking at.
