you don't have to look hard to see it-

Wonder if he'll still be in philly when we visit there in 2015?

Third pick he's being held, but yeah.

He refuses to stay on his feet AND use his arms + body together. It's either shoulder dive or weak arm wrap. No body.

Throwing him in to Sharper's role in his second season was a huge mistake for his development, if it was ever going to happen.

In almost every single one of those pics you can see he is getting ran by. His biggest problem was his angles were absolutely dismal.

looking back on it, it was just a terrible pick to begin with. To think a guy that mostly played CB could come in and be an NFL safety.

considering the fact our defense could have cushing or matthews as LB. Even harvin as a WR.

We could be the most dominant defense going into '14 if we had cushing or matthews. That'd put us with a playmaker on every level of the defense.

not saying it doesn't happen. But to pick a guy at 14, it's a big risk

Also, much like a guy like Mathieu, Byrd proved to be a ball hawk in college, and a switch made much more sense. Jenkins showed some skills in that regard, but Byrd had 17 INTS in only 3 seasons. Jenkins, 11 in 4 years.

Jenkins still has a chance to turn ut around it get better

Not at free safety. The guy is one of the worst in zone coverage. When you have two safeties that can't read plays and adequately play their deep zones, you will get abused like last year. I am not surprised by Harper's lack of coverage capabilities. He's too slow to cover a WR in man-to-man and has bricks for hands when it comes to making plays on the ball. The most surprising thing about the pair of them is Jenkins - he hasn't done well since his rookie year when he was at corner. He's had 2 years to learn how to play zone and just can't. He's pretty terrible at tackling. I can't really defend the guy, whereas Harper you know what you're getting. A good tackler and blitzer with limited coverage capabilities.

It's always been apparent to me that Jenkins was a problem, so I guarantee that the coaches knew that going into the season this year. But when you are up against the cap and have to pick the lesser of to evils, keeping Jenkins was a better decision than to cut him last year. Who was the best FA prospect at safety last year - Ed Reed?

Harper was the one that got the most negative attention though. Both were bad but at least Harper was good at SOMEthing.

yea, people just wouldn't forgive Harper for the Seattle debacle in 2010/11 season. Every time something bad happened in the secondary, the same people would blame him, even if it was blatantly on Jenkins.

Meh. I question whether Cushing will be able to walk, let alone play, in three years

Still have nightmares of Vernon Davis torching us, mostly MJ, in the 2012 playoff game.

Fumbles too.

Yep. And a ton of people blamed it on Harper.

If I remember correctly, Harper was the one that was burned on the game winner. I know there are 60 minutes in a game, but that was the most glaring play for obvious reasons

To me, the most painful play of the game was when Alex Smith did the bootleg run and Will Smith bit hard, saw it, and turned around and started running painfully slow and you just knew Alex Smith was not going to be caught.
