If any of these sports reporters were true professionals they would wait and see what happens over the course of the season before grading the trade.
That and at least wait to see what sort of value each team gets from their respective draft picks.

If you fully understand the game of football and have been watching the Saints, you understand this move and are not upset about it.

Let's be realistic. If Atlanta traded a 28 year old record-breaking TE who is arguably the best in the NFL (if not, top 2) for a very good center (who missed 10 games last year) and an end of round 1 pick, you know Saints fans would be laughing our arses off. We did not win this trade.

The national media in general, from the articles I've read, think the Saints are idiots and Seattle made out like bandits in this deal.
Desperate is the word I've seen thrown around by some, which shows they pay no attention to how Loomis and Payton conduct business. Rarely do they do things that aren't well calculated or thought out. There's a plan in place here.

Prisco's analysis of the trade and eventual grade don't seem to make sense. Just saying.
All this trade says is who the Saints offense is built around and what it needs to succeed. Brees needs a clean pocket to step into. We didn't have that last year. This trade theoreticslly does a lot to fix that.
Recent drafts have shown college WRs/TEs are having an easier time transitioning to the NFL. Graham is a great player but he is a luxury item we just can't afford given the state of our D.

But the Saints just netted a center in his prime who is regarded as the best in the NFC AND a first round pick. All of this also frees up cap room this year and into the future as well as puts cap strain on the Seattle Seahawks, all while betting against Jimmy Graham (a skill player--any NFL person worth their salt will tell you skill players tend to have very short shelf lives).
Just this morning Kevin Mawae was on praising the trade because Unger will likely be a mainstay while Jimmy Graham could likely be out of the spotlight within the next few years.
It's a calculated, safe bet the Saints made. And I love it.

Typical Prickso... Nothing to see here... Move along...

How do some of these guys maintain their positions as writers? This guy misses some of the most glaring aspects of needs.

I agree with all of this. Saints are committed to fixing their O-line and in doing so will get Brees back to championship form and Ingram will greatly benefit, allowing us a more balanced attack.
I'll miss Graham, but he fell off last year, disappeared in big games, or was battling nagging injuries.
Saints are righting the ship, and although it may take another year to get it fully right, I feel we are going to make another serious run in the twilight of Brees' career

I agree more with Walter Football's grade
I really believe the Saints could have got Unger and 1st for Graham. I would feel much better had they not surrendered the 4th pick.

Nobody's arguing that. We're just arguing that we didn't get anal raped, which appears to be the majority opinion.
Also, Jimmy Graham will still be a 10+ TD guy but he will NEVER be a 1,000-yard receiver with that QB and RB.

What about the 1st rounder? I feel like that's a vital part of the deal and he doesn't even mention it...
Posted on 3/11/15 at 11:45 am to CBandits82
Given that there are draft choices involved, including a 1st rounder, the correct grade is "Incomplete".

I would agree with this, time will tell.. We need another weapon on O.

All Seattle needs is the 10+ TD guy.

Seattle fans weren't celebrating it and they just got a hell of a player.
I doubt that Falcons fans are familiar with Unger or understand the Saints needs
Seattle fans know Unger, and they saw how easily Graham can be shut down.
Seattle fans and Saints fans think the trade was not out of whack. Atlanta fans laughed at it. Enough said.
Ask Atlanta fans how good their offense was with Matt Ryan and their all-star WRs, but no offensive line to protect or run block. That should tell you the relative importance of WRs to OL.
