Am I the only one that thinks this? No one in the history of sports has ever created something special without emphasis on the defense. We won a super bowl, great, awesome but that was also 8 years ago. If I was mediocre at my job for 8 years I would get replaced and my job doesn't mean Sh$t. Defense didn't play terrible tonight but this is one of the worst offenses we will see and Bradford could have drank a 6 pack in the pocket tonight. Payton thinks Kamara is cute but Drew is almost done. We don't have time to check out the rookie flex back at the goal line. Give AP the damn ball. One of the most depressing franchises in sports history because we all know it won't all of a sudden get better next week. Time and time again saints fans keep getting Sh$t on. So much hype then you realize 7-9 would be equivalent for winning the super bowl for this team

Yes. You're special. No one else has ever thought it.

The franchise needs new ownership. Period. Start with that and go from there. New ownership usually means a total house-cleaning of the entire coaching staff and front office.

That's what this franchise needs.

The timeouts at the end of the 1st half were unbelievable.

Payton needs to get out of the player personal decisions and just coach.

I'm just surprised that more people don't agree with me and see the issue. Payton lucked out and got a Super Bowl, for which I'm very thankful for, but now, 7-8 years later we are trading Brandin Cooks for an unproven offensive lineman that obviously won't help us right now. If you really wanted an O-lineman why not trade Brandon cooks and someone else for a proven player? How come no one thought of that? Now we have an unproven rookie O-lineman for maybe Drew's last year with a down grade of Drew's stretch deep threat in Lewis and a senior citizen Tedd Guinn. wait and see what Tom and Bill do to our defense next week. If you have an patriots players on your fantasy team, put them in the damn game coach

Not that easy. Like I said in another post although he's below average we're at least kind of stable and below average. If you keep benson and loonies and dump Payton and then Brees goes we're gonna be browns bad.

Bottom line we need new, motivated leadership from the very top, then can SP

His refusal to run the ball is mind blowing. When you know you have a weak defense you need to run the ball and shorten the game to stay within striking distance. Then late you can cut Brees lose and try to win it throwing the ball if need be. You can't have near 50/50 possession time with your opponent when your defense is bad if you're one dimensional offensively. It doesn't matter how good your QB is. Payton has proven over and over again his passing numbers are paramount in his mind and winning comes secondary. It's time for him to go it was time 3 years ago.

Payton won't get fired, because Mickey Loomis won't get fired, because everyone above Mickey Loomis is brain dead.

He has had four years to get it right and, based on the first game, appears to have failed again. You can't waste any more time in this league. Building rosters and instilling accountability takes time and Payton has lost his ability to do both. The greatest shame in all of this is that Payton has squandered four years of Hall of Fame quarterbacking by his unwillingness or inability to make wholesale defensive changes after the 2013 season.

It's entirely his fault that Bountygate happened. If he doesn't get suspended then the train stays on the rails. He did nothing to stop Williams' BS when he knew what was going on (and possibly promoting it). No one ever holds him accountable for that shite.

Been thinking and saying this since we missed the playoffs after our SB run. Payton's a drunk and Brees is getting paid to much to build this team back to a playoff contender. I believe both will be gone next year, and the Saints will fall once again into the abyss.

They did this several times at the goal line and it failed miserably.

Payton AND Loomis need to go if for no other reason than their seeming obsession with re-creating the 2009-10 team.

The rest of the league moved on years ago and we're still trying to re-create magic that wouldn't fool anyone even if we found it.

Pretends to be amazed by Uncle John pulling a quarter out of his ear...again.
