Who would coach the defense then? I think it's going to be terrible this year too but it would be stupid to fire him now...at least give him a chance.

Well.... Yeah... Isn't that the whole reason they brought Allen in? As a not so subtle threat to Ryan? I actually love Ryan, think he's the perfect guy for this city, but if the defense still can't get off the field when the regular season starts, put me down in the "won't last the season" column.

Yes, please don't post an opinion that's a threat to the delicate sensibilities of all the Saints "Sunshine Boys."

Try to control those factual and realistic opinions that hurt the feelings of so many that are not emotionally equipped to handle message board opinions that are contrary to their own. (Close race if it's worse on Saints Rant or Tiger Rant)

Opinion: Ryan will not make it to the end of the season. Just a matter of when, not if ......................

The defense is going to be fine. I would hate to see some of these Nancy's in a pressure situation in their everyday life.
"Kiddie Pumpies" commenting on the psychological correlation between posting an opinion on a sports message board and the pressure of real life situations is & all at the same time.

What the frick does somebody commenting on playing Defense in the NFL have to do with the "Pressures" experienced in your day to day life existence? ................

If I was Payton, I'd put an ad in the paper TODAY for a new defensive coordinator.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe jumping to conclusions at the first sight something doesn't go as planned? You can't be that dumb to not see the correlation.

And judging by your previous posts, you should back away from the keyboard. You're trying too hard.

You honestly think firing our defensive coordinator two weeks before the season is a good idea?

Yes.

The last time I posted a topic calling for the firing of a Defensive Coordinator was 12/30/2012 and it was about Spagnuolo. Folks jumped my arse back then as well.
I was "crazy for even thinking Spagnuolo would be fired after 1 season"; "he wasn't going anywhere"; "he just needs more time"...etc.

Payton fired his sorry arse 24 days later.
So, who was nuts?

I think our biggest problem defense will be the starting unit's lack of time together in the preseason. We have 6 newcomers who are starters (Browner, Breaux, K. Williams, Anthony, Ellerbe, Kikaha), 3 of which are rookies (counting Breaux). We also have had injuries to some of these guys that have played very little, or not at all, in the preseason (Byrd, Vaccaro, Browner, Ellerbe), along with a couple of position changes (Cam, Hicks). I, unfortunately, am expecting very little cohesion from this group for at least the first few games.

I think our scheme will help with that transition in the secondary though. Lots of man to man coverage

No one fires the defensive coordinator after three preseason games where all but one of the starting secondary didn't play. I'm not saying he won't get fired at some point this year or after the season but you're being ridiculous. He wouldn't have been given another season if he leash was 3 meaningless games where we don't even know what scheme is being used. These games are glorified practices and all you guys flipping your shite are just being reactionary.

I don't think the Saints should fire Ryan unless and until we still look like last year halfway through this year.

I wish I could say I have faith in Ryan, but I just can't muster any. Any improvement over last year is at least a step in the right direction.

I somewhat agree with this statement. Our defense does not have an identity of what we do well. In our system we have made most guys look average to below average.

I think we have the talent, the system we run is shitty. We need to blitz to get a pass rush. Our front four does not get a push and our corners play 10 yds off the LOS....

If, in two weeks, Arizona is converting 3rd and long all day, let's re-evaluate.
