It reminds me of when i was playing fantasy football 20 years ago and all my friends were laughing at me. Now there isn't a person that doesnt play fantasy football. Crossfit is going to boom like that.

Had no idea it was a pre 1994 thing.

It is older than that, my Dad played a version in the sixties. A bunch of guys at his office wrote three player name on a piece of paper and put them in a seal container each week. At the end of the week whoever scored the most points won the money. You only got the points scored by the player. QBs did not get point for passing TDs as that was counted as a TD for the person who caught it. So, it has been around for a long time in some form or another for a long time.

I am not sure if I am cooler or if I am a loser for not knowing what Crossfit is.

That is why it is the Yeti cooler of workouts. Here is the similarity: Take something that has been done for 50 years and give things a new name(WOD, Box, Precool, bear proof), charge people twice as much for same product because mouthbreathers think expensive means good, and market it with meathead crossfitters or shiny cool bumper stickers and voila!!!

ETA: And I am not knocking the workouts for crossfit. They work. I am knocking the fact that people think it is some new revolution

because mouthbreathers

I promise you, if you compared IQ's of crossfit folks with those of the normal gym crowd, it wouldn't be close. The crossfit people I know are generally educated people who make more than average money.
Carry on though with your assumptions.

And no, I don't do crossfit.

My assumptions are if you pay a ridiculous amount of money for crossfit either: 1. You are a smart person who knows you can do the same excercises yourself for 1/10 the price but you are rich and dont care(kudos to these people, i wish i was them ) 2. You are a mouthbreathing moron who likes to be separated from their money

people pay for it because they see results, not because they think its cool.

It is a new revolution. That doesn't mean they invented the exercises. It's more along the lines of how they program the workouts collectively.

Not sure what's so funny. I'd say 80%+ of the people that workout at my place are college educated. The price weeds out "mouthbreathers"

Yeh I am coming off more of an arse then I want to. If someone looks at me and says they do crossfit because they like the fact it is regimented and they like the team enviroment because it keeps them from quitting or not showing up, i respect that and think it is a smart decision. It is the people that think it is some new mad science workout revolution that only a paleo eating crossfitter could understand that drives me crazy. I want to punch those people

Good for you that you have it all figured out. Coach Payton and several thousand other are all dumbasses.

whatever. If you don't agree with the concept and think it's too expensive, that is fine. I just found it really stupid to use the word mouthbreather in association with people who crossfit. The craze kind of started in California and moved all over west coast. It's more of a city thing, not a redneck small town craze. Just not the kind of people I associate with the term mouth breather.

Have you not read anything I posted? I have tried to point out the "concept" of crossfit is 50 years older then crossfit. It has been done for years before crossfit is around. It is my favorite form of training.
