P.J just needs to settle in

Swann has played quite well at times but just needs to be more consistent.

Good to see Tull doing well, maybe we can get some production out of him in a situational role.

Henry Coley is another guy that's played extremely well all camp. LBer depth isn't too bad these days.

I almost feel like Jahri needs to play the next game and then take it easy the rest if the preseason. I just dont know about him holding up for 17 weeks.

And I unfortunatley dont see how we are going to keep Swann and PJ with the fact that SJB is playing better. Seems like they'd get signed off the practice squad by someone if one of them end up there. (most likely swann)
We havent had this much CB depth in a long time

I'll rather them be out then risking them getting hurt in camp.... Like Benjamin and McCoy.

Unless Swann lights it up over the next few weeks, I think they will be able to move him to PS. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get limited playing time in the 4th game, or even cut before, if there intention is to move him to the PS.

SCRIMMAGE, Pt. 2

quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Delvin Breaux, Jamarca Sanford return; Akiem Hicks, Lance Lewis out of practice
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Really nice hesitation step by Khiry Robinson to get through hole cleared by Strief, Evans
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Two plays later, Ingram cuts inside good kickout block from Watson
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Josh Hill with a nice lead block from fullback role
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Cooks, Murphy, Saunders taking punts today. No Snead.
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Impressive showing by Saints starting offensive line in 1-on-1's. Unger, Evans both looked very goid
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Undrafted free agent Sean Hickey getting a ton of reps in 1-on-1, playing both guard spots
Would love for this guy to come around.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
All in all, very solid showing by the Saints' offensive line in 1-on-1's. Chandler Jones vs. Terron Armstead is great viewing
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Armstead's ability to recover and counter rusher's first move is impressive. Such quick feet
Much powerful. Wow.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Bill Snead with what looked like a little jawing on special teams. Didn't turn into anything
Jawing when he should be dancing.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Tavaris Barnes in with first-team nickel. No Breaux yet in contact periods
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Michael Hoomanawanui with a deep ball catch after beating Kasim Edebali
Honestly haven't heard many good things about Edabali in camp. Was hoping he could replace some of Galette's pass rush.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Cam Jordan with a really nice run stop outside. Looked like there was room and then there wasn't
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Pats RB Dion Lewis with a run that didn't get whistled dead until deep in secondary
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Matthew Slater runs by Travis Manning for long TD from Brady
Why did we sign the shitty Manning?

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Brady on fire deep. This time it's Josh Boyce over Brian Dixon
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Saints doing a lot more rotating of personnel groups in team so far. Second, third D's both getting work against Brady
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Bush flagged on touchdown throw from Brady to Gronk
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Gronk free again for TD at back of end zone, then Chris Harper gets free for TD on Wilson
Man, we need starting secondary back.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Ben Watson with a nice back-shoulder grab down sideline from Brees
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Brees with all the time in the world on Saints series so far
Harris must be in.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Ryan Griffin with a beautiful downfield throw for a TD to Cooks
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Josh Morgan gets interfered with on short throw, makes catch anyway
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Toon can't bring in high slant from Griffin
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Nice, explosive run by Robinson, possible TD
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Brees sacked. Tobin Oporum in at fullback with first team there, ran a route
First Mayonnaise frickitty. Now Toby Opium?

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Rough day for Saints secondary so far
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Mark Ingram wide-open over middle for big gain
quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
Blitz from defensive back gets home for Patriots. If play extended, Brees with long completion to Coleman
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Nice blitz pickup by Hightower leads to Griffin completion to Toon
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Grayson picked off by Daxton Swanson on deep ball to Saunders. Nice play by Swanson over top of WR
quote:

Joel A. Erickson
What a catch by Willie Snead. Running one-handed grab by Snead on a flag from Grayson
I guess that catch was...nothing to Sneadze at. Amirite?

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Touchdown pass from Grayson to Murphy
I like seeing Murphy playing offense, too.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson
Willie Snead again, this time with impressive jump ball catch on a fade from Grayson for a TD
Man, we might not be able to afford letting Snead go on the PS.

quote:

Joel A. Erickson ?
I've got Grayson 5-for-7 with two red zone TDs and a pick

Important tidbit:
quote:

Larry Holder
Brandin Cooks said biggest difference in camp this year is that guys are playing for each other. No egos.
What a difference a Galette cutting makes.

quote:

Nick Underhill ?
Colston says he thinks he'll play this week
quote:

Mike Triplett
#Saints Mark Ingram continues to be featured as pass catcher once or twice per day, especially with Spiller sidelined. Nice gain from Brees

the glimpse of davis hull we are seeing may make edebali expendable IF they are sold on keeping anthony spencer around.

Yeah I think the talk about dumping Ede is an overreaction. He didn't play coverage last year and they are throwing him and Kikaha into the fire to see if they can pick it up. If they can then great but if not they'll have a more limited role.

It was like when they were trying Smith out in coverage. He was not going to do it much in the regular season.

Interesting tweets from Nick Underhill who says Snead has the most receptions in camp so far with 22. Cooks, Coleman, and Colston have 16. Watson has 20 (even with missing time). Toon has 13.

I don't know what his criteria is for a "catch" but that's what he's tweeting.

He's only counting team drill catches so no 7 on 7 numbers.

Colston, Cooks, Coleman, Joe Morgan, Snead and Josh Morgan. I think we keep 6. That's 2 big bodies, 2 speedsters and 2 possession guys.

Saunders out due to Murphy
Toon out due to Coleman
S. Jones to the PS
And surprised Prater was cut so soon, thought PS for sure.

No problem. It confused me at first too as the numbers seemed way too low but if you read his blog he explains it.

Not sure why they don't also keep track of the 7 on 7s though.

He's young and seems to be getting consistent pressure. I really don't see us letting him go.
