A heated argument between former Alabama LB Reuben Foster and a hospital worker at the NFL Scouting Combine might not cost Foster draft standing with some NFL clubs, but for at least one of them, concerns about Foster's maturity go back farther than the combine incident.

And are significant enough to remove him from the draft board.

At least one NFL club holding a top-15 selection decided it wasn't interested in the ex-Crimson Tide star before he was sent home early from the combine, according to MMQB. While some NFL clubs might consider Foster's combine incident as isolated, this one clearly sees it more as part of a larger pattern.

"He already had immaturity, issues with life skills. This is the same guy," an evaluator for the team said after Foster's early departure, per the report. "We're not in the market."

Doesn't surprise me. I think he falls a bit due to potential injury concerns, maturity issues and/or intelligence. I do not see the Saints touching him at 11.

The Saints are probably the team that took him off their board. After the purge a few years ago, I couldn't see them drafting him.

That's not all that's come out recently

Alabama LB Reuben Foster admits he has struggled on the whiteboard portion of team interviews during the draft process, but has been working on improving.

"The major concern with Foster for NFL teams, beyond the off-field questions, is his ability to absorb a playbook," The MMQB's Robert Klemko wrote in an interview with the linebacker. "Foster has struggled in interviews with teams who ask him to draw concepts with X’s and O’s." This is different than explaining and diagnosing film, which Nick Saban says Foster is great at. On the field, Foster is a missile. It is possible he ultimately is selected in the top 10, to a team like the New York Hets. He is competing with Haason Reddick to be the first off-ball linebacker off the board.

I think it's us. There was a reason we brought him in, to find out more about what happened. My guess is they didn't like the answer.

Also lines up it would be a team between 11-15, otherwise they'd say top 10 or top 5.

Payton is real serious on not returning to the way it was becoming.

Does anyone know if he visited anyone besides us after the combine between 12-15?

That's Cle, Ari, Phi, and Ind.

Looks like either us or the Eagles.

I am Anti-Foster.

we need defense, but I would rather go offense than to take him.

Let me guess though, Tre White at 32 or 42, Beckwith in the 3rd or Duke Riley in the 4th would be incredible value

Would the Saints take Lawrence Taylor off their draft board in today's time as well?

Bears aren't between 11-15. I think if it was a top 5 team he would have at least said top 10, if not top 5.

Otherwise why say top 15? Just makes no sense unless the team is between 11-15.

Surely you are not comparing Foster to Taylor.

Taylor was a generational type talent. Foster may be a very good player but he is not on Taylor's level.

But iirc didn't Taylor fall in the draft some because of his issues?

Edit:
So not Taylor I'm thinking of. But still Foster is no Taylor.

FWIW, didn't want to start a thread about it, but my buddy who works for the saints said this about the butler situation @ 2:37 PM 'he's coming bro!! to be public by Friday'... asked him about what we were giving up in return and he said he wasn't sure, so can't help there

He's also the guy who told me about Klein two days before it happened and also about the saints eyeing Mike Thomas before the draft

And please don't compare me to tzimme, I don't know anything, just passing along info

Yeah I know Butler is coming. It was always just a matter of time before one or both sides caved a bit on the guaranteed money.

No. Almost every team in the NFL had Taylor on top of their board's that year. He ended up going 2nd, only because Saints coach Bum Phillips was adamant about drafting a workhorse RB, which we did in George Rogers. Rogers went #1 overall, and Taylor went 2nd.

Falls to 32? I know the answer, but let me dream about it for a minute or two
