I really don't ever remember him being that great at kickoffs. Punt returns were his forte.

He got close to the 20 on almost every kick return.

That would be nice, but I think it would be a luxury. The two people I see people talking about for that role are Deanthony Thomas and Dri Archer. I'm not that wild about Thomas. I just don't know that much about Archer. I'm not really that concerned about rb though. I think we just need to worry about adding some new blood to the wr's, and maybe get a center at some point to compete and add depth.
I agree with literally all of this.

Is this supposed to be an accomplishment?

Know that, like everyone's boy Dexter McCluster, that they are 175 lbs and are probably not equipped to fully fill Sproles' role.

Sproles touched the ball 190 times a year on average his 3 seasons in NOLA, between ST, rushing and receiving. You cannot just hand over that role to a skinny rookie and expect him to hold up to that type of pressure and physical abuse. Archer already has an injury history and that is plains in the woeful MAC, not the NFL.

Joique Bell has proven to be one of the best pass catching RBs in the NFL. Cadet compares favorably to him and is in a better offense. There is no reason to think Cadet cannot handle the role. You don't have to be tiny or run a 4.3 to play the role Sproles' played. Take off the video game glasses.

Right, which I think factored into the decision to part ways.

I'm not even convinced we are looking for a replacement. I think we're going to target a WR who can do returns, but I think we're going to trim down the RB involvement in the offense a bit.

Fair enough. It's just in the limited time that I've seen Cadet play during the regular season I haven't been all that impresses. I'm not that concerned about it though. As Pat said, I wouldn't be that surprised at all for rb to play a much smaller role in the passing game this year, and I actually think it would be a good thing. The ball needs ot be getting down the field a little more.

Payton has always had a heavy pass catching RB.

A lot of that may have been cirumstance since he's been in NOLA. In any case we still have PT to cath those screens but not necessarily be the "sproles" role.

Who was the heavy pass catching RB when he was in Dallas or New York?

Jesus.

This has literally never happened.

Ingram never turned in a season less than 3.9 ypc at his worst.
"2 yard" Ingram exists only in the minds of fools.

Stats do lie. Half the carries last two years and receptions barely off. Sproles isn't done.
