I do agree that we have fewer receiving weapons but I think with the OL additions giving Brees' more time I think it's negligible.

He has proven time and time again that he passes it to everybody. Hell I think the whistle head guy in the stands had a few catches last year. Couple that with the new beast mode ground game and I think it helps on double coverage for our wideouts.

In response to the grammar of your subject

quote:

"Nobody to throw too"

...yes there is. There's Brees plus the guy we drafted in the 3rd, Garrett Grayson.

Not concerned at all about WR.

More than enough guys to move the chains. Brees might actually play smarter and throw "where the defense ain't" instead of targeting Graham and Colston on 3rd down.

And that's all we need with Ingram/Spiller running behind our line and a totally re-tooled defense.

What happens when Colston inevitably gets injured like he has the last couple seasons?

That is a concern.

Too many banking on toon or Saunders to come up big. Or Morgan. Cooks and slow arse Colton. That's all we got.

Have zero idea why you throw Colston and Cooks in with those?

We should be fine with the weapons currently on hand especially if the plan is to move more towards a balanced attack.

If Cooks busts out next year and becomes what he's supposed to be then that's a huge weapon right there. Then you have Spiller who will be the Bush/Sproles mismatch nightmare. That's already two huge impact guys that are already on the roster.

I wonder if we will market one of our tackles to try and pick up a WR.

I think we have a few players to throw two.

Hell, we have to in Cooks and Colston right there.

Maybe we'll have a chance too pick up a FA.

Theye could look at bringing in a veteran WR at some point after the draft. Colston is really the only seasoned vet on the roster right now and a lot of inexperience around him.

If you want to bring in a Welker or Wayne to contribute that doesn't necessarily have to be done right now.

I have actually been pondering if the Saints offense is better without any overwhelming #1 type receiver. I count Brees ball distribution as huge strength. The more even the distribution the more unpredictable the offense.

Colston has been a great player but never the type to take over a game. Graham was the closest we have seen to that here. When he became dominant was when we started hearing the Saints O not being as dynamic as in the past. The approach became shutdown Graham and take your chances with the rest.

2009 World Champions Team Receptions
70 Colston
51 Devery
48 Shockey
47 Bush
45 Meachem
39 PT23
35 David Thomas

Payton also made a couple of brief references Wednesday to two other super-sleepers I’ve mentioned before -- second-year receivers Brandon Coleman and Seantavius Jones.

Both undrafted rookies spent last year on the practice squad, but Payton was impressed by the potential he saw in them, which may have helped make receiver Kenny Stills expendable before the Saints traded Stills to the Miami Dolphins.

“We have two practice squad receivers that no one would even know right now that we think are going to be involved in this year’s plan,” Payton said once, before later adding: “Seantavious Jones, Brandon Coleman, shoot there's a handful of players aside from Brandin Cooks or aside from Marques [Colston] that we look at and see snaps from. … Nick Toon is another one.”
