NFL coaches on the early hot seat

Already starting! If we go 7-9 again I do think they will make a move but I won't like it. At the same time how long do you wait?
THE LAME DUCKS. These coaches almost certainly will get the ax.
1. Sean Payton, New Orleans Saints. I’m surprised the Saints haven’t fired Payton already. He hasn’t won more than seven games in a season since 2013 and he can’t hire a good defensive coordinator. He still is living off the Super Bowl he won in 2010, which was long ago, before Bountygate and the accusation that Payton is a “molly-abuser drunk hooked on prescription pills.” I think the Saints will fire him after they inevitably miss the playoffs for the fourth-straight season.

The only way Payton gets fired this year is if we have a horrible 2-14, 3-13 season. Otherwise, I'd say he gets this and next year to see if we can get back into playoff contention.

Probably but someone stirs the shite up and then a bigger news organization picks it up and it's a domino effect.

Who are we going to hire as a replacement? Payton will be here as long as Brees is here. Is this the last year? Time will tell, but I highly doubt it. If we have another sub 7 win season fans will be upset once again, but will be forced to look at the big picture. Who out there would you want to bring in? This league is full of revolving door coaches and the last thing I want is any part of that crap. I'll ride with Sean P until the wheels fall off this team, and by all accounts we just threw some brand new 22" Pirelli Scorpion's on the mutha F'er!

I agree, I don't want to lose CSP either. But just reading this, like the end of last year when we were 7-9 again, I think the heat will be turned up.

Drafting and free agency mishaps destroyed us the last few years. Some things were out of his control (like having 1/4 of the cap on dead money and injuries), but this year it's a full deck. He has no excuses.

Considering Drew Brees is worth at the very least 3 wins per season, I consider these last three seasons to be more like 4-12 for Payton. I have no confidence in Sean or this front office's ability to evaluate defensive talent or coaching for said talent. And I don't know how anyone who has watched the team this past decade could disagree with me.
I watch the Saints now as just a fan of the team and the sport. No optimism. If we win win, we win.

Happens in politics all the time.

I hope Payton coaches in New Orleans till he is 70. Think he made some mistakes that have taken a while to correct but he seems to have gotten his shite together

I'd be surprised if Payton ever gets fired.

I'm not saying it's you saying it OP, but a lame duck coach is, by definition, a coach heading into the last year of his contract and only a playoff run can save him.
Payton just got reupped. He may be on the hotseat if we do worse than 7-9, but that's every coach in the league unless it's their first or second year.
In other words, this article fricking sucks.
Edit:
What are you doing reading an article from a 9ers blogger?
Also some of the coaches on the list belong, but there are unnammed coaches more on the hotseat not mentioned.
And Rivera shouldn't be taking the blame for Gettleman's frickups. Not his fault Gman is too cheap to properly restock the team.
And DK is doing a great job in TB. Not sure why he's up at all.
Or McCarthy, they are tied or have the second longest playoff streak in the league at 8. Maybe he gets the Schottenheimer treatment (only one non winning season in KC at 7-9), but if they make the playoffs again I doubt it.

Slight correction here. We've never had a sub 7 win season under Payton and only had 1 (Katrina season) under Haslett.
Outside of the Katrina season we've finished 7-9 or better every year. While not good, we haven't been a bad team (again outside of one year) since Ditka.

That's another bogus link. They have guys like Coughlin (Giants), Kelly (Eagles), and Smith (Bucs) as coaches (of those teams). Wtf?
Also I knew Carroll had been around a long time, but didn't realize he was 65. I guess it's that wrinkled baby face of his.

Saw CSP at the top and thought it was interesting but yeah, that's bullshite will delete
This one still has him the highest paid. Just mean he needs to deliver this year, at least a winning record.

Being that he was just reupped and coach contracts are guaranteed, it actually means he is more safe than most others if he has a bad year.
He seriously has to have a real bad year to get fired. 7-9 won't do it.
