From what I read, expect to spend $600 mil at least on a new stadium. The one in Dallas cost a little over a billion.

And the other major problem is land. The N.O. preservationist and not in my back yard folks are very tough. Try building a new hospital in the city.

my point is if they plan on using this hypothetical new stadium as a safehouse for hurricane victims, they won't have it next to a possible levee breach

NOTE: Not saying it will happen, just would like to think we would be cautious

1. The Miss. river levees did not breach.
2. The dome is no longer a shelter of last resort. That stopped after Katrina. I wonder why?

No shite. You would think they were building a state of the art whore house the way some people reacted to the idea of the new hospital

There really isn't a better location for a stadium in the city of NO than the Dome

It really does work out well, especially with traffic. N.O. has one of the few great venues where people can walk to and from hotels, bars, restaurants, the game, etc. The NFL loves the logistics of it all.
I have been in the club and suite areas of the dome in the last few years and everything looks pretty awesome.

EXACTLY... we can always update it in the future with new seats, amenities, etc... I'd much rather the dome than that sterile looking shite in arizona

Phoenix is a horrible sports town that will probably lose 2 of its franchises in the next decade

Between the real estate deal with Benson & the state for the New Orleans Centre & Dominion Tower; the Superbowl coming in a few years; and all the renovations happening now & in the future...no new stadium talk coming within 10 years.

Anyone who was walking to the Dome for the Lions game a few weeks ago KNOWS an open air stadium would be a mistake in NOLA.

Anyone who has sat through an LSU game in the rain or the heat knows a open stadium in NOLA won't go over well with the general fan base.

Retractable roof would be nice for those beautiful fall Sundays. I know it won't happen but it would be nice.

I for one don't want a new stadium anytime soon. Katrina made me appreciate how special the dome is. Besides, after the games you can just walk to the Quarter. Won't be able to do that in Mandeville.

Were they really considering Mandeville?

If you are not from New Orleans you will never understand why its better to keep the dome and keep renovating it (just like whats being done). If you are from New Orleans you get it I know.

Sorry New Orleanians...they will never understand...ever. I sat on a plane with someone from Louisiana(not the New Orleans area) telling the Texas guy next to him that the best food in NOLA by all means is at Zea's.

Yes, I am serious he said that.

Once again another person who just doesn't get it.

BTW, have most of the people here been on another planet the past few months? The long term deal has been all over the news since spring.

exactly

if we ever get to the point where we absolutely need a new stadium, blow up the dome and build the new one right on the same site, it's worth having to play in Tiger Stadium for a year.

That's actually a good thought. When the time comes for a new stadium, I hope they consider this as an option.

If Benso builds a new dome it would ruin the team. Who in the hell here would like to pay 10000+ for a frigging personal seat liscense? No one would be able to afford the tickets.

And if we had a retractible roof dome in our climate it would take about two days to cool it down if the roof was open and they had to close it because of a thunder storm.

No thanks.

FYI, Saints new lease states they must play in the dome until 2025 so no new stadium talks until then.

Who in their right mind would want to get rid of this ICON?

I'd much rather keep it up and make it the Lambeau of the South. Traditions kick arse!
