Makes me sick to read some of the PC comments on this board. Unbelievable. The rules were clearly stated and he was warned not to wear the Jersey. This is about rules and respect for them. Not about expressionism or big govt or any other rediculous thing some of you hippy, PC clowns can dream up.

Go hug a tree and stay out of LP.

why do dumb people have to politicize everything?

i'm pro death penalty, anti gun control, and non PC but the principal is an idiot and petty at best.

let the kid wear the jersey, and let him deal with the shite talking from other kids on his own. no need for the school to intervene, esp when the "rule" is retarded.

Applauding the school for intervening kind of reminds me of "libs" applauding the overly intrusive actions of governments in our everyday lives.

eta: not an intentional direct attack on the last poster, just airing my opinion on the issue in general.

I agree they probably should have just let it be a free dress day, but it wasnt. It was a parish wide "black and gold" day. After this student was told he could not wear it and did anyway something had to be done. I am against big govt at every level, but I am for discipline and I guess my growing disgust for the lack of discipline from parents these days makes this less about football.

If the rules state you must wear a uniform or something that supports the Saints then the principal was 100% correct.

No kidding. I cannot believe that anybody is arguing for the kid. We did the same thing for our school. Our principal told our students that any student without a dress code for one week could wear a NO saint shirt or jersey yesterday. Any student who broke the rules (Colts jersey or a kid with an infraction) were sent to TOR and written up. I didn't see any Colts crap, but we had a few rule breakers. In fact, one of them wore a Bengals' jersey. Explain that one... I guess he wanted a day off.

Kids these days have ZERO respect for authority and this is what is wrong with the world today.

Bingo.....In today's world, the PC "if it feels good do it" crowd never feels "rules" are made for them. The fact that one person can dictate their beliefs to the point that it ruins what could have been a fun thing for the kids has to now be a political statement with the ACLU of all people involved. Everything is now political and if one person is offended, the rest must suffer...

My God. He made a rule, the kid broke it, he punished the kid. It's pretty fricking simple. It doesn't matter AT ALL what anyone thinks of the rule, the principal was well within his rights making the rule and was well within his rights enforcing it. frick....what the hell is so hard to understand and how the shite is there any argument for the kid here........IT'S A RULE AND HE BROKE IT.

I wonder if he told them to wear SAINTS jerseys in 2005 when the team needed A LOT of support.

I'm guessing no and I'm also willing to bet if any of the kids would have shown up in a Saints jersey in 2005, they would have been sent home.

I don't post here much but I can't stand these fricking people that try to defend this type of actions whether it being high school kids or whatever. This has nothing to do about civil rights or freedom of speech..... It's about the fricking rule that a student was to wear his/her standard uniform or wear black/gold or saints gear. There is nothing gray about it. If the kid didn't want to wear Saints colors, then wear what he does every other fricking day of the school year.

The people who are defending this situation is exactly what is wrong with America today. Go frick yourselves and your politically correct self!
