On ESPN today, they mocked the Saints would draft the RB from FSU.

Those frickers are clueless.

Cook is a really good player but I'd be ready to turn off the TV and not watch the rest of the draft if we did that.

I'd probably log on here to watch the board burn with everybody else then hit the trail for the night.

Tequila shots.

I think a tell tell of his tackling technique should come from another hit.
Not an open field "kill shot" opportunity against a young phenom (Buga) or the starting QB in the natty.... I want a guy that wants a kill shot.
Show me him doing this shite on a routine toss sweep play and I will be more concerned.

Exactly, someone with some sense.
But not lets keep insisting he "hasn't changed"
Ignore articles before the season from coaches stating how much better he has gotten. Ignore experts that say he's arguably the best tackler in the draft. And ignore 95% of the tackles he makes.
I am sure if I went back and critiqued every round 1 LB projected player in the draft, they hit with their crown at least once a game.

Where do you people get this stuff?

It's just weird

I remember the EXACT same thing said about Adrian Peterson

If Fournette goes to a team with a decent OL he will shine

@ #11 the DE Barnett from UT will still be available and if the Saints pass on him then I can only say the organization is as hopeless as the people ranting here claim.

Bump

Oh Throbinhood......What was that again?

quote:

Weaknesses
Instincts are just average. Overly reliant on speed and athleticism over instincts and feel. Can be a tick slow to respond to play-action. Inconsistent defeating blocks. Too eager to take on everyone at the point of attack. Gets shoulder covered up firing into incoming blockers. Needs to improve stack and shed technique to keep himself clean. Will drop his head at times as tackler. Poor tackling technique led to "stinger" issues early in his career.

quote:

Sources Tell Us
"He's not a MIKE linebacker. I think he's a pure run-and-hit WILL linebacker with good cover talent. I'm worried about what his medicals will show because he's had some issues with stingers during his career. I have a higher grade on him than I had on Reggie Ragland. Better pro potential to me." -- NFC director of scouting

quote:

Has Pro Bowl potential as a 3-4 inside linebacker or a 4-3 weak-side linebacker, but concerns over his medical history could be a consideration, according to some teams.

Reuben Foster Breakdown

And the article you cited there is pretty old. You won't find many people that disagree he used to tackle like a man with a death wish. I've watched the kid play every game of his career and his technique is night and day from when he was playing special teams as an underclassman.

Bump. Not only has Foster shown poor decision making off the field so far, the 49er coaches have also taken note of his poor tackling techniques.

quote:

The San Francisco 49ers have had a lot of positives in the 2017 season, but one downside has been Reuben Foster’s repeated injuries. Since returning from his high ankle sprain and broken rib, Foster has not missed any games, but every week it seems like he gets dinged up and misses a snap or two. It’s better than not playing at all, but the injuries could add up.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about the injuries and suggested that they would look at his technique from the season, and see if there are ways to improve that. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh spoke on the same topic Thursday afternoon, and he is a big believer in what improved technique could mean for Reuben Foster.

“This is gonna sound ludicrous in a way, but I think he can be even more explosive when he hits with proper technique. When he learns to run his feet through contact, he’s going to destroy people, without hurting himself.

“And that’s something he’s got to work on through the offseason, is how to tackle the right way in terms of — because when you see him, he just throws his entire body in there. But if he learns to actually accelerate through the tackle, with his shoulder to the sternum or shoulder through the thigh, I mean those hits will just be, what’s already explosive, even twice that.

“There’s an element he needs to work on with regard to his technique and tackling, to not put his body at so much risk, and I truly believe that when he does figure it out, he’ll be even more explosive.”

I don't think he will be as "great" as some here think he will, I see him as just another "better then average" RB who wont carry a team and make them win more just by being there.
Solid prediction.

“What are you feeling?” someone asks Lynch.

“Joy,” he says. “We just got two of our three favorite players in this draft, and we’re still in play tomorrow and Saturday to have good days there too. I mean, you never know. Check back in three to five years. But we just got two game-changing players.”

"Reuben's gonna bust a lot of coverages," Shanahan chimes in.

"You know," Lynch says, "I remember spending time with Reuben. I wrote this down in my notes: I asked him, 'You like to hit people, don't you?' He said (Foster), 'You gotta make 'em feel it!"
