Brees has good pocket awareness and quick feet, and he struggled with the pressure all season. If we put Mettenberger back there our training staff will be peeling him off of the turf every game. Going to be even more difficult with the new blocking rules this year. Just don't think he fits.

Yeah but we wouldnt need mettenburger right away. He could sit under Brees for a few years as we build a great O-line. But of course, I'm very biased being an LSU fan

I was not up for giving up a draft pick and trading for him since we have Grayson, but since it would not cost us anything I would definitely bring him and let him battle it out.
I still say his agent should be on the phone with Arizona and San Diego to go sit and learn behind Palmer/Rivers for a year two until they retire

Yeah but I would love to see what Payton could do with him.
It's a no lose situation, McCown is not the future Grayson hasn't shown anything, at least with Mett he gives you a stronger arm behind Brees with potential to develop. I'm not saying he's the replacement but why not start bringing in guys that could potentially take over one day. You pair Mett with a QB guru in Payton, who knows?

He has a great arm but he needs to work a lot harder than he did with the Titans to overcome some of his mechanics.
