LSU aside, I would absolutely sign him to be the backup and learn under Brees and Payton for 2-3 years.

That said, I'm not sure what we have in Grayson and this preseason and training camp will probably be his shot to make the team and stick around.

It was a wasted 3rd round pick

And the Dolphins chose Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees, what's your point?

He has to go through waivers first. Odds are someone else will grab him before the Saints turn in line

Let me know how many Bama players succeed in the NFL compared to the amount of LSU players

So who of the rams, eagles, chargers, cowboys, jaguars, ravens, 49ers, browns, buccaneers, giants, bears will pick him up?

And that time will be very soon, I feel.

I say it's a wasted pick because they could have gotten a solid starter/contributor with that 3rd round pick, but chose the luxury of a 3rd string QB. Would feel different if he came in and won the backup job, but he couldn't even do that.

Agreed. Someone should pick him up, first.

He sucks. Pass. We have our back ups as of now.

Grayson wasn't getting the back up job. Brees and CSP want a vet who can watch and be an extra set of eyes. That's not some rookie. Grayson will likely be third string again this year for the same reason. He's being mentored and brought along slowly.

I mean damn, there are a thousand threads about getting a QB to mentor then we finally draft one and he's a bust because he isn't beating out a future HOF and a savvy veteran. Give it some time, man.

Incorrect. When Mettenberger gets cut in Training Camp, the Saints organization will have annoyed even more local fans. I'm not saying you haven't had some remarkable players come out of LSU. I am a big LSU fan as well, but I kind of like having no LSU players on my pro team's roster. Removes my clear bias about my perspective of the 53.

I clearly have a problem with bias. The last two post-seasons have concluded with me cheering for the team with the most LSU players. I know I am not alone in this.

NFL Live on ESPN had Zach Mettenberger in their top three available QB's. But, they questioned why he was released. They speculated lack of motivation and personality as the potential problems. They did say that some OC may feel his talent is worth the risk and opt to try and fix him.

73% of Zach Mettenberger's completions last year were to TEs or dumpoffs to RBs. On passes 15+ yds in air = 6/26 (23%), 32 RTG, 5.8 YPA.

Quite a lot but seeing as how you guys gave us JaMarcus Russell, I could see where you might be confused.
