Makes me remember the old NFL rule from the late 80s where they would penalize us for being too loud in the dome. I can remember games getting delayed for 5 to 10 minutes while they tried to quiet us down.

ha, that used to be ridiclous

i remember the first game after this rule. Boomer Esiason was playing for the Bengals and kept making hand gestures and shite at the crowd just to get them riled so the refs would throw the flags. We got about 3 penalties in a row. the rule didn't last very long

cool seeing the decimal reader go above 117 and above 115 quite a bit.
Crowd was for sure an impact

Whats crazy is Arrowhead hit 137.5. I can't even imagine that with how loud 115 in the dome is. Maybe they need to play around with mic placement for that DB meter.

Fox showed Sean Payton for 20-30 seconds, firing up the Dome even more, just after K-pick threw it away.

Beautiful.

I think the time of the game helped with "preparing" the fans for the game. I also thought noon on a Sunday in New Orleans is a horrible time to have a game.

I'm guessing that the dome crew was also showing Payton on the jumbotron?

They showed him once for a quick second, but Payton was waving his arms up and down every down that last possession.

Also, I'd put this game in the top 10 for loudness, but not in the top 5 all time. One of the most exciting games I've been to for sure.

3 pm is the superior start time.

Noon is too early, 7 is too late.

I don't think so actually. I'm pretty sure they were showing Junior and the defenders jumping around and pumping up the crowd.

This. Saints need to request more 3pm kickoffs.

the 3pm game helps our crowd.

Night games work as well depending on who we are playing and the magnitude of the game.

It felt loud in the 4th and it actually came across on the FOX broadcast. (to me usually does not do a good job with the crowd)

It was cool on the broadcast the kept showing Payton trying to get the crowd pumped and you could see one of the screens behind him say " Get Loud"

Yea noon games suck. The only reason the opener was so awesome is because it was Atlanta, and because of all the emotions having Payton back/coming down to "the worst defense ever" from the year before making a stop

I've been to nearly every game for 10 years and this was definitely top 5 loudest. After that should have been Safety it was LOUD. Deafening loud.

Also, for awhile, it was against the rules for home teams to show the decibel level, so I guess that rule changed.
