I remember Cooks bitching after we killed the Rams more than any catch he made

Yea, that’s false. He was and still is a good player. Though this ended up being a great trade for us

Cooks was good, but like someone said he has had Brees and Brady as QBs.

He is similar to Graham. Brees makes everyone a shade better.

I'd argue that. Sure he has two hof qbs, but he's a good wide receiver. He gets open, he runs good routes, he catches contested passes more often than we give him credit for. His flaw is lack of yac/fighting for yards/making a guy miss. Otherwise he'd be a #1 for most teams

Cooks being tiny is a bigger deal than people think. Loved the trade

Cooks is a good weapon. He can thrive in the right role. Problem is he’s not physical at all, and if you have a physical corner on him you can shut him down.

The trade was absolutely necessary. Not only has it kept us from having to turn to Bryce Harris, but he’s actually grading out rather well.

Harris could sandbag our entire offense, which has been struggling even with Ram in the lineup.

If the health of Armstead continues to improve we can really start rolling.

After punting on that first drive, we pretty much did whatever we wanted on offense into the third quarter, when they pull Armstead. After that, we had a holding call on Kelemete and never converted a 3rd down the rest of the game.

Cooks ran his route and that's it. When that porous OL broke down and Drew scrambled cokks did a shitty job of trying to get open. Gotta work at this level.

I have so many memories of cooks running out of bounds. He's no desean jackson.

Also, the pick at 32 was almost Reuben Foster. As much as I would've liked to see him playing defense for the saints, Ramrod has been invaluable this year.

Cooks is a good player but a bitch. That’s what it boils down to.

Without Lattimore we'd have a starting nickel of Butler, Crawley, and Williams. Butler already looks to have fallen off this year and he's already alarmingly close to 30 when CBs usually drop off a cliff. Plus we'd have to pay him 12-15/year and we get rookie salary for 5 years instead. Lattimore also looks like he could be the best CB in the league after not too long. I can't wait to see him up against Julio.

I got blasted in March for saying Butler was too close to 30 to spend that kinda money on.

ETA... Oh wait you were one of those people... LOL

I agreed with the trade but lets be honest we were lucky with the Rancyzk pick.

He was a luxury at the time and three defensive players we targeted had to come of the board with three of the five picks ahead of us. Anyone one of Taco, TJ Watt, or Reuben Foster was on the board at 32 we don't pick Ram and we are having an even more patchwork OLine to start the season. Drew could very well be crippled by now if we didn't get lucky.

This FO and coaching staff just can't win.

Bad picks every where and they suck.

Make a good pick and they are lucky

He just isn't the player people think he is. Had been saying for years he wasn't even worth the first we drafted him with

When it comes to Cooks and Thomas currently....

Thomas 28 Rec., 8.4 Targets Per, 5.6 Catches Per Game, 321 Yards, 11.5 Per Catch, 2 TDs

Cooks 24 Rec., 6.8 Targets Per, 4 Catches Per Game, 472 Yards, 19.7 Per Catch 2 TDs

Cooks helped out Thomas more than we want to admit, they brought different values to the offense and fed off of each other. Neither seem elite by their production as of now, except for Cooks’s Yards Per Catch. I’d say the trade was a win for the Saints because they drafted the best O-lineman in the draft and he’s getting better each game.

Lattimore may actually help save our 2018 free agent spending monies when you think about the probable lack of need to go entertain paying a top dollar cb now. Saints have been interested in acquiring jenkins, butler and a few other top cb's we've been linked to. Lattimore/Crawley/PJ on cheap rookie contracts... nah we good. Breaux will be interesting situation. Likely gone at some point.

Looking back, it's a borderline miracle we got a 1st for Cooks. 1st rounders just don't get traded for veteran players that often. You'd expect it to be a WR a little higher up the totem pole (no offense to Cooks he's good but not elite). Ram and Marshon have been everything we could have asked for and more. Marshon still has to prove he can hold up for 19 games, but goodness the kid is a MONSTER. I can't recall seeing a rookie duo like White/him come in and dominate day 1 in the NFL like they have.

always been my issue with cooks, he's not the WR1 he thinks he is.

He's an extremely good WR2 but a good cover guy can totally shut him down, Lattimore owned him...in his 2nd game as a pro.

People want him to be AB but he's not. He's now been in 2 potent offenses that don't feature him that way. Perhaps there's a reason for that.

I wasn't trying to imply that. Ram was a great pick and shows their draft board was solid. The need for him with Armstead going down and Streif at the start of the season was what I meant by the lucky part.

this is what the people didn't get on draft night. Instead of forcing themselves to pass rusher they went BPA and it worked. RT may not have been an immediate need but it was a need
