I think we might need to give Evan Mathis a call.

I know he's expensive, but Evans looked bad Thursday and so far in practice he's being abused. I think he's done.

Have you spoke to Payton yet? Why are you telling us?

Every FA we pick up gets injured, it seems.

Who's that other G FA?

I was checking PFF's stats.

Mathis' stats from last year are insane.
There's just no feasible way we could afford such a player.

I'll have to look into the #s post Junior, but I think it could be doable, back loaded obviously

He comes from a zone blocking scheme to. The longer he isn't signed, the lower his price probably gets

How backloaded?
We owe Junior like 16 mil next year right?

Keep in mind that Mathis is 33.

If Brees doesn't want to be on his arse we tell him restructure and have a talk with Mathis. Tell him he can be part of something special and we will take care of him for the rest of his career. 1 more time Loomis!

$12m for JG next year. Also have about $3m cap currently but at least half is needed for PS and IR players.

Cannot believe we allowed ourselves to get in this situation at a position absolutely vital to the Saints' success.

Grubbs was bad and he got traded. Evans was subpar last year. What did we do? Nothing. Assumed Lelito would start (average player) and drafted no one that could come in and play guard.

Feels like the Champ situation last year. Saints thinking they are "fine" and then when they find out they aren't, they are screwed.

Maybe instead of taking 2 corners, or a QB in the draft, we could have drafted a guard with one of our 5 selections in rounds 1-3

Really depends on what he's asking for

Blalock and Rob Sims would be more in our price range, and I think they'd be solid enough. I'd also ask the Cowboys about Mackenzy Bernadeau's availability. Unless Frederick gets hurt (none of their guards have C experience to my knowledge), then La'el is the first off the bench for them. He started 11 games for them last season and played well from what I recall, though he had a lot of talent around him. A Khiry/Bernadeau swap could make sense for both teams, though I think we may be able to get a solid pick for Khiry in RFA next season.

Barring a trade we'd have to tender KRob at the second round level to have a shot for a pick but no one in today's nfl is going to give up a second for a HB (especially when they're rarely going in the first round nowadays).

I could see if he does well us tendering at the second round level for protection and then flipping him for a third or fourth rounder (may get a third since he doesn't have quite the injury history Ivory had).

depending on what Khiry does this season, I could conceivably see a team giving up a 2 for him. He is running with an attitude and has the speed to get to the edge. He is almost like a more powerful Edgerin James.

He'd have to have a 1,600 yard type of season to fetch a two. HBs are too devalued now and teams know they can pick a top back in round two.

So very unlikely, but I guess technically possible.
