Right know who can hire Wade phillips,Tom Coughlin, Mike Patricia,Nick Saban,John Grudan. There is alot more but not going to named them all. Payton has gone stale. Stale .People stop reliving 2009. Some coaches just get old.

For every time we want to bash their evaluation of talent, let's be real and give examples of when they've struck gold.
They've definitely been successful with UDFAs and they deserve credit for that. However, I wonder if we are actually more successful in finding those guys than other teams, or if it's just made more obvious on the Saints because the busts in free agency in the draft make playing time available for the UDFAs.

I haven't seen any posts that wanted him gone. I've seen several posts stating that he is to blame for most of the Saints' problems or just criticizing him in general. That doesn't mean they want him fired.

Sean Payton is still arguably one of the top 5, maybe top 10 NFL coaches in the league imo
This is fricking ridiculous. Stop being lazy and start trusting your eyes - his clock management is horrendous, we blow valuable timeouts every fricking game. He's been with Drew for 10 years now there is no excuse for this.
He stubbornly refuses to play superior players, his playcalling hasn't adjusted or improved in eons, his clock and game management which used to be top 5 is now bottom 10.

Lol. We could easily have 3 championships right now save for a few plays. But I hate reflecting on times like that San Fran game. It makes me has a sad.

We made the playoffs in his next 3 seasons. 2011 was not downhill

Definitely not top 5 by any objective measure.
Had a couple of good seasons and a superbowl season. Most of the players from that team are no longer on the roster.

He's won 60% of his games. Only 4 active coaches who've coached at least 100 games have better marks
Bellichek - 67%
McCarthy - 65%
Tomlin - 64%
Harbaugh - 61%
Payton - 60%

correct
but we are now staring down the barrel of possibly 3 straight losing seasons in a row.

Yep, but this has also been a complete rebuild outside of the QB position.
There's no doubt that the front office has completely dropped the ball to force us into a rebuild, but this is a much improved team from last year, even with the injuries we've seen so far.
The next 3 games will be very telling. I think we whip Atalanta in primetime at home.

I have no qualms with Payton as a coach.
I do however have issues with the people he hires and the clowns he has scouting for him.

And the others have won Super Bowls since ours in 2010. With exception being Tomlin, who has a significantly higher win percentage and a much more exciting program with high upside.
This is one of the most important threads ever started on this board. I hope the conversation can continue.

I know this is something that 90% of fans can never live with and I completely understand and can't fault people for wanting change, but...
I still believe in this front office and this coaching staff. I just think we've had a bad run of luck and it's cost us. I see their overall vision. I don't think that blame can really be placed on any one person or group. It is clear to me that Mickey and Sean are a team and they make all of our decisions together.
Yeah, we've had some bust draft picks and some bad FA signings but so does every team. I think ours have just compounded and it's not worked out like we wanted but I don't personally want to give up yet. I like our current groups chances better than I like the chances of us making a homerun front office/coaching hire, especially while Drew is still here and elite.

Payton's contract extension should actually end this thread. He isn't getting fired. You really think they want another $20mil in dead money?

Loomis is 50/50 responsible for dead cap, he created the contracts; however, it was SP & Ireland's recommendations about who to get and who to get rid of.
I keep hearing this about Loomis being responsible for the dead cap. How exactly is this so? If those players would have made the team then there is no cap discussion. This dead cap is mostly due to poor talent evaluation and some due to bad luck with injuries and behavior problems.

I'd take Harbaugh's shite if he was our head coach. The 49ers had talent and he turned that team into contenders. The thing is, he got to bring his guys into the system. Any defensive coordinator is at a disadvantage because look who is your position coaches (Johnson), so I will never believe we can field a great consistent defense. I would add vitt to the list but back to back weeks against solid offenses and the linebackers are the best part of our defense.

I love it. The same people who want Payton fired are the same ones who thought we were going 10-6, 9-7

$41.5 mil in dead money? That buys a lot of talent, in theory.
NYG operating at $12 mil dead money, OAK $4 mil. We will be (and have been) playing at a huge disadvantage.
