quote:I guess you are OK with those who drag the flag on the ground or burn it as well? It's called showing respect instead of trying to draw attention to yourself.
Now people losing their shite when someone doesn't observe as its traditional observed? Lots, to which I'd say that you should stop being so easily offended.

We do enough laying down on defense, no need.

I have no emotional attachment to the flag. I realize many do, and if this protest consisted of dragging, stepping, or burning the flag, I wouldn't be a fan because they would be intentionally trying to hurt and disrespect people.
Kneeling is tantamount to an upside down flag, which is a signal of distress.
Whether or not you agree with their assement of treatment of minorities by law enforcement, what they're doing is breaking the norm because they view that things aren't right.
It's working, and bringing out the ugliness in people in the process.
Not once have I heard anyone protesting say that they:
-hate the country
-anything bad about the military
-that they themselves are oppressed
However I've heard them be accused of all three, on top of people wishing they were killed for their protest.
If ritual and tradition start mattering more than people, then you've turned it into tripe bullshite.

Pat has a lot of good points.
I stand for the anthem every single time, but I sure as frick don't want us to turn into a country where I don't have the choice (whether by law or consequence).
Protesting is American.
We didn't become a country by going with the flow when we didn't like something.

frick anyone who has a problem with the protest. Done arguing with filth. Everyone knows your true feelings despite your attempt to cover it with patriotism. frick you. Europe might be a nice place for you to visit for a while until you get over your butt hurt. Also, if you have ever owned a confederate flag then that's way more disrespectful to the American flag & soldiers than kneeling during the national anthem.

So far they have only knelt for
Oakland
New York
and Atlanta.
They were trying to kneel for San Diego but the Chargers beat them to it.

quote:Frick you. It's disrespectful and started by an attention whore who had become irrelevant because he was benched. Half those doing it probably do not even know why they do it. The high schoolers have caught on because they think it is cool and just a sign of being rebellious. Maybe it is you who should get your arse out of the country if you have a problem with the Anthem.

No frick your mother. It doesn't matter who started it. you people would find something about his/her character to assassinate in an attempt to make their message less meaningful. So frick you & your opinion of a person you've probably never met in your life. You're a fricking idiot and the perfect example of what's wrong in this country. frick you and your anthem, bitch.

Those that we do have are being eroded by mainstream media and the fear of offending someone
Stop being so sensitive

I'd honestly support sending these grandstanding clowns to North Korea for a year to play football.

I actually disagree with Kaepernicks point, not his method of making it.
