On Tuesday, representatives from the city of New Orleans will be at the NFL owners meetings in Charlotte, NC to make their pitch to earn the 2019 Super Bowl. They'll be the underdog among three other cities (Atlanta, Miami, Tampa), with Atlanta and their new stadium as the favorites to win the bid.

Pretty sure ATL probably has some handshake agreements for getting at least one SB since they built their stadium. We don't really have a chance here.
It's unfortunate. ATL is such a shitty city for the Super Bowl. Terrible nightlife(it's ok if you wanna drive out a bit...), awful traffic, very unsafe downtown except for a few small safe patches, mediocre food...

I think we've come to that time where we need major renovations to beat out all these new stadiums for Superbowls.

Most teams have newer stadiums now (meaning most teams aren't about to get a new one, unless someone moves). We'll get another one soon. We always do.
Edit:
Aside from the Ram's stadium opening in 2019 and the falcon's next year, there are only 3 proposed new stadiums (San Diego, Buffalo, and Washington) and I don't recall hearing much movement on any of them.
Super Bowl 2021 seems likely for us.

For those curious, the longest gap for Miami and New Orleans as hosts were:
Miami: 10 years (1979-1989)
New Orleans: 11 years (2002-2013)
2nd longest was:
Miami: 8 years (1999-2007)
New Orleans: 7 years (1990-1997)

Waste of time and money. As long as a new stadium is in the mix, older stadiums have no shot.

Just don't let this guy near the Dome for the next SB, dammit.

IF, and this is a big IF, New Orleans host the Super Bowl in 2019, then Atlanta (2020) and Los Angeles (2021)can host the other two.
All we have to do is beat out Tampa and Miami.

Miami just dropped $400million into their stadium. The 3 Super Bowls will be awarded to LA, ATL, and Miami. The only thing they will be voting on is the order. Las Vegas will be getting a team and a new stadium by 2020 so they are lock for 2022. The NFL will do to New Orleans what it has done to Miami, San Diego, and withhold future Super Bowls unless NOLA builds a new stadium or a major renovation to the dome.

They aren't withholding anything from us. They are rewarding those with new stadiums because of the wink wink deal that new stadiums get dibs at least once.
It's a short list and we will be in the mix getting one sometime soon (in the next 5-10 years at least).

Call it withholding, call it wink wink deal, call it whatever you want but the facts are facts, just like last time we won't get a super bowl until after a new lease for the superdome is signed and that includes a major renovation, or a new stadium.

The list is a lot longer than it used to be. It used to just be NOLA, Miami, San Diego, LA, as rotating hosts with the occasional random host city that built a new stadium, but now there are alot more cities that can bid for and will bid for SBs.
south florida
Los Angeles
San Fran/ San Jose
San Diego (?)
Arizona
Las Vegas (?)
Dallas
Houston
New Orleans
Indy
Atlanta
Tampa
South Florida
Minny
Detroit

I don't overly mind new stadiums getting super bowls too much, i get it but what pisses me off the most is Miami getting all the Super Bowls. Honestly, their set up is atrocious. Stadium is far away, no tailgating or partying anywhere close to stadium. Logistics to and from is a nightmare. Its extremely shitty.
Posted on 5/23/16 at 10:05 am to Chad504boy
Only reason they get it is the beaches and night life. Yeah it's a drive but it's hard to get great beaches and a great night life at the same place.
Posted on 5/23/16 at 10:08 am to bonethug0108
having great beaches in february should not be a priority for a super bowl event at all.
Posted on 5/23/16 at 10:13 am to Chad504boy
Not always cold there in Feb (like here the weather can be crazy), though that slipped my mind.
But still for all those adults attending it's hard to beat Miami at night. We come close but not many other places do.

Agreed. ATL is getting that shite!

That's such a narrow minded perspective on ATL. Atlanta nightlife is great, especially if you're a baller (like people going to the SB). Strip clubs, clubs that suit anyone's preference spread throughout the entire city. Shouldn't need to worry about traffic if you're going to the Super Bowl as there's a ton of hotels around a 5 mile radius there along with MARTA. ATL has a safer downtown than NOLA. Stats prove that over and over, so it's not just my opinion. Mediocre food? In Atlanta? They may not have 200 restaurants that serve Etouffee/Poboys but other than that, it probably has more food 98% of the rest of the country eats. More "southern food" that people will eat the shite out of.
Blah. Atlanta is a great city for the SB. You just mad.

Ha. No. They've hosted, what? 2 Super Bowls?
Its not a great host city. That doesn't mean Atlanta is a bad city. Its just not set up for Super Bowls that well.
Regardless, they will get either 2019 or 2020.
