Yeah... we're at the point we'll never get another one as long as these new stadiums are being built.

At some point governments have to step in and tell the NFL to build their own fricking stadiums, it's bullshite. All it does is enable owners to claim that a perfectly functioning building is no longer suitable, and then threaten to leave if they don't get one that suits their demands. I will say that Oakland is the exception, but it doesn't seem to be that Davis wants money, but Oakland just dgaf about the Raiders

We will never get a new stadium. Its not happening.

Poor low population city in a poor state with a poor (by NFL owners standards) owner. The Benson group will never be able to afford even part of a stadium. And after that, where do you put it? The Superdome is in the perfect place. Anywhere else and you destroy the advantage of having a SB in NOLA (the locality of the stadium).

The only shot is if somehow an ultra rich ownership group buys the team in the future. The problem would be them wanting to keep it here, which would probably be doubtful.

They're just currently rewarding owners/their cities for an investment into the NFL, like it or not.

New Orleans is going to host again, just after the rewarding of all these other cities.

I stayed at the Omni when I went to a Saints game there. Had a great time.

It's not the crazy party city that New Orleans is, but it'll easily be able to accommodate everything and everyone

Renovations to an existing stadium will never beat out a brand new stadium.

NFL is a fricking joke! Yep keep rewarding all the cities that build new stadiums. This is the name of this game!

The only thing we could do to get a new stadium is blow up the dome, build it where the dome is and play in Tiger Stadium for 2 years. Oh yeah and let the tax payers in Louisiana pay for it!

2 years would be the quickest. Could take 3 since you have to level the Superdome first, and you have to take pains as to not disrupt the Arena as well.

Why couldn't they go play in San Antonio? It's not like we'd have to worry about them not coming back or anything...

Could technically have the hotels tax the tourists. That's what ATL did, I believe. Still - someone is getting taxed one way or another.

Because Jerry Jones and Bob McNair would never, ever let that happen. Two owners, one in each conference, one of them extremely powerful, with a vested interest in keeping another NFL team out of their state.

shite, if you've ever been to New Mexico or Arizona there are lots of Cowboys fans and Spurs fans over there, so even the Cardinals probably wouldn't want another team in the Southwest.

Edit: Sorry, thought you meant permanently. But as temporary, lol.

Louisiana needs to pull a GB and buy the team from Benson... before it gets really out of hand.

Not to mention the 16-24 weekends of revenue hits to the NO economy. Playing offsite ain't happening unless another major disaster rendering it unsafe. Let's hope that never happens

The Saints aren't going to be playing in a 100 year old stadium years from now. I'd wager in 10 years they may have a new one. I thought the Superdome was nice and then I saw the Seahawks, Bucs, and Patriots' stadiums. It's a dump compared to them.

Winning a Super Bowl in New Orleans would be the most satisfying thing, with the second most satisfying being to win it in Atlanta's stadium.

New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson said he believes the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which has hosted seven Super Bowls, will host another one one day, despite losing out to Atlanta in a bid for the 2019 game on Tuesday.

quote:

The Superdome is one of the oldest stadiums in the NFL. Although the venue is currently undergoing upgrades to its video boards and suite areas this summer, it wasn't enough to break the trend of new stadiums receiving Super Bowls. New Orleans lost out to new stadiums in Atlanta and Minneapolis in consecutive years.

Benson, via a statement, also said he expects to bid for the 2022 game if invited. The 2020 and 2021 games were awarded to Miami and Los Angeles, respectively.

quote:

"Gayle and I were very proud to stand with our bid team and the entire city of New Orleans in making our presentation today to host the Super Bowl in New Orleans in 2019," the statement said. "While we are disappointed that we were not successful, we congratulate those cities that were awarded the game. We would also like to thank everyone that contributed in making our bid one of the best...

"As expected, our bid provided new and innovative programs for everyone that would have attended and offered many options so that we would be seriously considered for 2019. The historic Superdome continues to improve with age with its nearly $400 million in state of the art additions and will host another Super Bowl in the future. We are hopeful to be part of the bid process in 2022."
