Not surprised and I'm sure Harris is too.

Yeah just checked back on it. You have Parker twice. Austin Johnson is the one you missed I think.

Outside of being a fan favorite, I don't know what made Johnson a legit candidate for the 53. He barely registered on the box score in 4 preseason games.

Where do u expect a primarily blocking fullback to show up in the box score? Did Jed light up the box score?

One man did predict this. Mike fricking Triplett. Props to him for that.

But some of them can sub in at OLB. Really as a whole we have 9 LBs which is a good number(2 at each spot plus an extra; we did the same on the Dline).
It is still just OLB vs ILB.

Its not like we're talking about alternating between brain surgery and rocket science

Shanle thinks this youth movement is a salary cap movement. I can see his point.

I already said as much in other posts.

Looking on it, there are only 2 guys that surprise me they made the cut, but they aren't too surprising for different reasons.

First is Josh Hill making it over Michael Higgins and Austin Johnson. Not that any of them stood out drastically on offense. I think the difference was special teams and I heard(and saw) Hill was doing really well there.

Second is Tom Johnson. He just hasn't looked nearly as good as the other linemen. But I think we kept him as a numbers game. Just wanted to make sure there was another reliable body there if needed.

I was more surprised by the guys that didn't make it though, most notably Richardson and Parker(Cadet took his spot obviously).

I have to think Richardson is one of those vets that get brought back after week 1 so his contract isn't guaranteed, unless they have their eye on another OLB.

Guys I think still on the bubble if we pick up other teams players: Tom Johnson, Reddick, Sweeting, White, and IAQ.

Josh Hill made the team thanks to special teams and size/speed combo. He's a nice project for Payton to work with.

Surprised Corey White made the team because he got toasted most of the preseason and wasn't much of a factor. His youth is what probably gave him the edge on Chris Carr.

Interested to see what happens at OLB because we don't have anyone.

That just isn't accurate. The Miami game, yes. But outplayed every other backup CB in the previous 3 games.

Exactly.
And toasted isn't the right word for the Miami game either.

I direct you all to my PFF analysis posted earlier today.

So proud of Tanner. That man has been fighting his arse off for years. Glad to see him finally on the 53.

Tanner, Robinson and Cadet aren't in the clear yet. There is no way the Saints are going to go into the regular season with such an unbalanced roster (only 3 OLBs, and two of them coming off injuries.) No Way. They will pick up another OLB off the waiver wires, or trade for one.
