It feels better this year. We might end up in the same place but I have a feeling our defense will be less embarrassing.

Between ESPN and the OP, one of the two is definitely melting.

I know! I can't even stand it!! If ESPN doesn't agree with me I don't know what I'll do!!! I can't handle reading a story I don't agree with!!!!!! :wah:

They were better last year than the season before. Just some really strange losses: Oakland, Giant and Denver.

I rewatched that Oakland loss about a week ago. That was a tough one.

Considering that the reason for the Saints lose is basically: "Muh Brady! 19-0" It seems weird that the Pat's reporter is less optimistic.

Mike Reiss is probably one of the best reporters on ESPN.

Flip the loss against the Vikings, Redskins, and Rams to wins and we make the playoffs.

So going by their "expert" predictions, they have the following NFC seeds:

1. Green Bay
2. Arizona
3. Atlanta
4. New York
5. Carolina
6 Tampa Bay

With Seattle, Dallas, and Philadelphia all missing the playoffs with a winning record. And possibly 3 teams from the NFC South making the playoffs? LOL

Also, according to the 2009 Power Rankings, the Saints were #19

I feel like the only thing tempering expectations right now is the fact that we've underachieved the last few years. The ole fool me once bit applies here.

So saying we are 8-8 is fine because we have been 7-9 for 3 years
That's exactly what makes it a fair projection. Hell, they gave them and extra win over their 3-year average with no real reason to do so.

And why is it just ESPN you're hating on? Are there any media outlets predicting more than 8 wins?

The Saints finishing 8–8 is possible but to hAve the other 3 teams in the division finishing at 11-5 is just fricking stupid.

The South will be to hArd this yeAr for something like that to happen.

I think one could just say 8-8 for all four teams and be as right as anyone. We know we have a hard to predict division as the last 10 years have shown.

The atl could be hit hard by a Bowl hangover.
Carolina goes as Cam does and he's a pure wildcard.
Our Saints could go on a run or the injury bug bites us yet again.
Bucs have been trying to knock on a door they can never seem to find.

Going to be fun to watch!

This is my point. I understand them predicting 8-8 until we prove we will do better. The rest of the south hasn't proved shite but they still are "fellaciate"ing them. It just seems hacky.

Good. I have them at 7-9. I have them starting 0-2 this season. 8 is actually generous.

Panthers and Falcons I begrudgingly get. They are the last two NFC representatives. Tampa Bay though? They haven't done shite yet

I predicted 8-8 last year. I'll say 11-5 this year with 8-8 as the floor.

Defense & special teams look much better. Also, we have much better depth this year. Just need to stay healthy.
