I honestly don't know how they get away with this shite. They have us at 8-8 but Atlanta, Carolina and Tampa all at 11-5. They even have a game by game breakdown of which games we will lose. Things like: "the saints will be better but Tom Brady so they will lose" Or "Aaron Rodgers is all world so they have no chance". SMH

We've been 7-9 for 3 years. You don't get the benefit of the doubt when you haven't done it recently.

Why is 8-8 crazy?

We've been 7-9 for three straight years.

Well, the team hasn't done anything to make anyone think otherwise.

That's why this is the put up or shut up year.

Exactly right. We've been just as optimistic every offseason for fine years and the results haven't changed. Why would anyone who is not a Saints homer expect anything different this year? (FTR I think we will be much better, but again, I've been thinking that for five years)

Honestly, ESPN lost what credibility they had left when they gave Jenner that award and Gonzalo LeBatard air time. Who cares what they write.

So saying we are 8-8 is fine because we have been 7-9 for 3 years. The panthers sucked last year but ESPN believes they will be 11-5, The Bucs have been terrible until they had their first winning record in years (at 9-7) Now they are also going 11-5. The Saints have only finished last in the nfc south in the payton era. I don't get the love for the rest of the NFC south. Call me butt hurt if you want but i just don't get it.

With that said I have fallen into ESPNs trap; I am talking about them and linking their bull shite.

Doesn't really bother me. I understand the 8-8 and ESPN likes making the safe picks because it gives them more credibility. They picked us a few years ago to contend for the super bowl and we just never did anything so I'm not really worried about it.

Who cares?!? Besides, this team seems like one that will play better with a "me against the world" attitude. I hope everyone picks against us and then our young and hungry D comes out and proves all of them wrong.

I agree, it's lazy ESPN reporting. The Panthers sucked and have since lost their defensive coordinator and general manager, but some how they will be 11-5. That is grounds for losing all credibility as a journalist.
No way 3 teams in the division finish 11-5. That's just stupid of them

It's a fair prediction for a team that has been mediocre for 3 straight years.

My gut-feeling is they will be a playoff team. But 8-8 is an understandable prediction.

They are so lazy that they don't even bother to internally reconcile their records. They have the Patriots as one of the Saints 8 loses

quote:

Another big-time reunion game, with the Saints facing receiver Brandin Cooks after trading him to New England. New Orleans' young secondary will have to develop quickly to handle Tom Brady and the Patriots' loaded offense. There has been a lot of talk about the Pats going 19-0 this season. Their chase won't end this early -- especially with the Saints operating on such a short week. Record: 0-2

but they also have the Saints as one of the Patriots 4 loses.

quote:

It wouldn't surprise me if the Patriots' defense has some early struggles this season, and facing a Drew Brees-led passing game on the road is a tougher test than it seems. The Patriots were blown out in New Orleans in 2009, and while this game should be closer, I think it's arguably one of the Patriots' most challenging of the season. Bill Belichick is usually still tweaking the roster at this time as September is essentially an extension of the preseason. Record: 1-1.

Considering that the reason for the Saints lose is basically: "Muh Brady! 19-0" It seems weird that the Pat's reporter is less optimistic.

I wasn't optimistic last year. I don't remember my prediction, but I didn't feel good about it
