On the 11th pick and didnt see who had been selected, but the consensus was either Christian McCaffery or Reuben Foster at 11. However one of them wanted a corner and no corners were there worthy of pick 11.

So they "called the Patriots" and made a trade for Butler for #32 and a 3rd. I'm not crazy with us giving up another pick but whatever.

The Colts also called in. Offered #15, 3rd, and 4th for #11 but we turned it down in favor of Christian McCaffery.

#11 - Christian McCaffery
#32 - Malcolm Butler via trade

Thoughts?

in that scenario i'd trade down to the Colts, assuming no spot worthy DE or CBs were available.

If the Colts offered a 3rd and 4th to move down 4 spots either someone super awesome fell to 11 or our pool of players worth picking at those spots is down to one and we don't want to risk it.

9 out of 10 we take that Colts trade. Also it isn't going to be 32 and another pick. 42 and another perhaps.

Exactly. You'd do maybe 42 and 103 for Butler but not 32 and 103.

And then they turned down a third and fourth to drop down to 15.

Yea, we can't give up 2 of our 2017 picks. I'd be ok with #32, or #42 & a 2018 3rd/4th rounder. Anything more than those 2 is giving up way too much value.

We need at least 4 picks in the 1st 3 rounds this year. If we lose a pick for Butler, we also lose the need to draft a CB, so 4 picks is perfect. Our biggest positions of need are loaded in the 1st 3 rounds. Need to take advantage of it & win now.

McCaffery would be used well in the system. CSP would essentially just dust off his Bush and Sproles plays and put them back in the line-up. Not worth our 11th pick though

frick Butler. Not worth a 32 and a 3rd. Do not want.

Regardless, ESPN is dumb AF. They should stick to liberal news.

Colts trade offer would be take all day, unless someone fell to 11 we really wanted. So many good playera still left at 15th and another 3rd pick along with 4th. One would have to be crazy to turn that down. lol

wish people who did mocks would quit assuming NO is just going to make a deal for Butler and just make a pick for the Saints at 32

Agreed. If Lattimore, Hooker, or Barnett is there...I'd take them. Even Jonathan Allen if he falls & the scouts like him.

Barnett could make it to #15, but the Eagles pick #14 & they run a 4-3...their DE's also suck(so do their CB's). He might not make it past them.

If those guys are all gone, then it's a no brainer.

The Saints would be the dumbest mother fricking franchise in history if they turned this trade down.

Is this assuming Fournette is gone? I would rather bring in the hometown hero instead of McCaffery if we are taking a RB. I would line Fournette up at WR also.
