I don't think Ryan should go either. I think both line coaches should be shown the door and our special teams coach as well. CSP needs to get his head out of his arse and design some new plays or quit calling the same ones.

And for people saying injuries...We had like ZERO injuries at the beginning of the season. The saints sucked then, and they suck right now.

Agree with most of what you said. We have zero pass rush and our secondary was destroyed by injuries. That's the combination to get smashed by opponents week in and week out. I think the pass rush and sack numbers last year were inflated because we had Greer and Lewis healthy with Vaccaro, Bush, Harper, and Jenkins playing all over the field. Whatever you thought about them, they were vets who had value as opposed to the no name guys were just throwing out there now.

And guess who ranks behind us? The Falcons. The team that our Offense couldn't move the ball on. If we fire Ryan, we should fire Payton as well using the same thought process. Hell, Payton had less injuries to deal with.

They had a bad first game yes. But they bounced back in Cleveland strong. If it wasn't for a Brees pick 6, we win that game.

Agree 100%. First game in the NFL is always a nightmare, just about anything can happen and it's almost certainly going to be opposite of how you planned it. Players like Brees who live for dissecting a defense and the data that comes with the position of QB, the first game is always a nightmare to prepare for.

I thought the Cleveland game was the first time this team actually showed some promise. Yeah, they lost the game but it was the first game the coaching staff appeared to do a pretty good job.

You know what will improve this D the most? Everyone coming into training camp healthy and not being a bunch of lazy pussies. Get out there and actually practice and I'm willing to bet that the chemistry is a little stronger. We had a bunch of vets sit on their asses and act like "talent" would just kick in come Week 1. They started off like shite and it carried over. We were behind the 8 ball losing way too many games in the easy part of our season. Then injuries kicked in and the rest is history. This season was doomed from the start if you paid attention during training camp.

goddamn how many times did we say that this year.

The offense was deplorable. Ingram and the young recievers played well though.

Exactly, the whole team sucks. I think Ryan and CSP should stay, but hopefully this is a wake up call for them.

I think you have to keep him unless it was his idea to conduct the massive purge that led to the D shitting the bed this year.

My understanding is that it was Payton/Loomis orchestrating personnel maneuvers, so ryan gets a pass. Plus consistency will help. Last year proves the guy knows what hes doing.

Ummmmm they drove downfield three times not one. Just two of those drives ended in turnovers.

Payton needs to look in the mirror before he decides to fire anyone.

Given the injuries and salary differential of the healthy players, the offense was much more of a disappointment than the defense.

What part of the defense was healthy? The secondary sure as hell wasn't and that's the most important part of a Ryan defense

What was our rank the first three weeks of the season with a D that was healthy? We were dead last. And continued that throughout he season.

I can't disagree with that, but we've seen improvements in the D in the latter half of the season. RR adjusted by going with more zone instead of man, and the D got marginally better even with all of the injuries.

I mean, I agree but only in the sense that we couldn't get much worse.

Well, that's not true. We did set a record one year

Also, what is the bs I'm hearing where we switched from a 3-4 back to a 4-3. Why would we even consider doing that?

And a lot of posters want another massive purge. Coaching is the problem, and CSP and Ryan need to get their shite together and hold players accountable. Don't wait until the end of the season to play tough guy and start calling players into the office.

He deserves to be fired.

Not sure if it will happen, but my fingers are crossed it happens next week after the Bucs game.

I don't think we did. Could be wrong. I do believe there's more 4-3 but I think base D is still 3-4.

Cam Jordan, Akeem Hicks, Bunkley/Jenkins, Galette playing as down-linemen. Pretty much all year. I don't think I've ever seen more than 3 LBs on the field at once. I never was great at math, but I'm pretty sure that constitutes a 4-3. Right now they don't have the personnel to really make anything work except these hybrid nickel schemes.

Saw it on another thread and didn't realize -- RR is DC, but all the position coaches on D were here when he got here. A number of units underperformed and I think need new coaches.

I think we need to let RR get his own staff -- esp coaches for DL, secondary, and LB before we get another DC.
