I say choosing to extend Galette was a big mistake. He was here for a year so we should have known what type of person he was.

There was no way we were NOT extending him. They needed GGG to keep him in line...... But that was not workable.

Exactly. Pretty much everyone was saying we got a steal with Lewis' contract. Injuries suck but they happen.

Most people were excited about Spiller and many about Browner.

Galette was a BEAST on the field and a bitch off (but didn't truly show his arse until after the extension).

It's hard to find one name on there that you completely question why we signed them in the first place when it happened and not after they played/got injured (or went loco in Galette's case).

The mindset of this group has to change and when I say change, I'm talking closer to NE or Gb's mindset.

NE is all about finding cheap untapped talent which is totally hit or miss.

GB is all about not spending in free agency but to keep your own

Well the only way to have a NE or GB or Pittsburgh mindset and keep your own and have cheap talent is when you actually draft well.

There is no excuse for the FO continuing to put us in this dead money situation. We have 40 million and the closest to us is the Browns with 28 million. Even without Galette we are the worst in the league. Guess who was the worst last year? 34 million with a couple at 28 behind us. We had the 8th most in 2014. We can't draft worth a shite and we are always hindered by being so terrible at managing contracts. Not seeing where faith in the FO comes from.

Without Galette we'd be almost dead even with Cleveland.

Lewis was another unexpected cut due to injuries.

Last year we were ahead because of Graham and Galette, two guys we thought would be here a long time.

shite happens. Sadly it happens to us a lot.

Browner is the only talentless player on that list.

Very few have stated "I have faith in our FO" but almost all have expressed hope that they can turn it around because its who we have for now with no change in sight.

Byrd money not "dead" technically but it is in reality. Not getting much value from the crazy contract he got.

I never thought Gallete was worth what he signed for. Do I have to say anything about Browner? What did Spiller ever do in the league even when healthy.

Saints have been throwing very expensive doo doo against the wall and nothing is sticking

Ignoring off the field bs, a pass rusher like him is absolutely worth what he got.

He couldn't handle Cam getting more than him

Spiller was damn good before coming here.

In 2012, he had 1700 yards and averaged 6 ypc and 10.7 receiving. The only year he really missed time was in 2014 too

Honestly, the biggest issue with him and Byrd is that they were still injured when signed. We should stay away with our medical staff

Dead Money Culprit by PokerPlayingTigerFor what reason(s) do you think it is "definitely Loomis" instead of the head coach?

This board is weird. I ask a question and get down voted? I wasn't even expressing an opinion.

Weird.

One thing we do regularly that drives me nuts is to trade up in the draft. That is a recipe for disaster. When you combine our inability to draft well with a reduction in the number of picks then you are pretty much fricked. We need to start trading down to accumulate picks so we can increase our chances of getting lucky.

New England are the current masters of doing this. Dallas built a dynasty in the 90s this way.

It made more sense when the rookie contracts weren't structured like they are now.

Saints never adjusted until it was too late. Supposedly, Ireland is the voice of reason when it comes to keeping picks, but we still traded up this year

Keenan Lewis $6,350,000 - great signing, injury happened

Bitched about wanting his entire contract guaranteed and was holding out knowing his body was falling. We caved and gave it to him.

The injury happened third game of preseason, long after they adjusted it.

And it was a legit freak injury.

The hip never bothered him before then.

You should add Jairus Byrd to that list. He has been dead money, from a productivity perspective, since the day he signed.
