1) Sign TE Ladarius Green instead of Fleener. He's younger, more promising, and cheaper. Signing him over Fleener would have saved us $2M/year.

2) Sign MLB Jerrell Freeman instead of Laurinitis. He's a year older but was one of the highest rated inside inebackers in the NFL last season. Would've cost $1M/year more but he would solidify the MLB position.

This isn't even hindsight. You have no idea how any of these players will do next season for their new teams.

You thought this thread was a good idea and then hit submit? Stop. Right now.

You can't just sign any FA. They have to want to come here.

nice hindsight smh! it's a 2 way street. Saints can have all the interest in the world but if the feelings aren't mutual you move onto the next....

I agree about Freeman over Laurinaitis. One is good and one sucks

Green turned us down, but we should have paid Fleener, Green Money. Once we signed Fleener, we weren't getting Freeman

Yea cause it is just that easy to say hey we will sign you and you. It isn't Madden and there is more to signing free agents than just wanting to sign them.

Well technically if you offer them enough money they will. That's of course, you're not named David West of the NBA

Technically that's bullsh!t.
Or do you have evidence that no player ever once took less money?

Never mind I see where you went

And at that point, it becomes the same argument we're making the same argument.

Who's better, fleener or green? okay then, next topic

Freeman was good, but he doesn't have the football IQ to teach Anthony. Nobody is expecting Laurinaitis to be a world beater, he's here specifically for two reasons, be available on the field and mentor anthony on how to be the QB of the defense.

We have nobody on the roster with a history of being good/experience who can help him, we don't have a good coach on the sideline to teach him, and so we needed to get him someone who can groom him while letting him play to his strengths until he can take over.

Since we don't know if the Saints decision is necessarily wrong, and that the players you coveted would have been the correct fit, I don't think it's hindsight, just yet. But, maybe, your Captain Ron Obvious. Oh, never mind.

Change title to Captain Foresight, because this is the exact opposite of hindsight.

Hey guys I found Captain Bonehead!

Some people don't want to come here no matter how much you pay them, and others would take well over market price.

At that point it's effectively saying they don't want to come here.

So you pay a guy a shite ton who doesn't really want to be here, how do you think that might affect his play?
