Bryan Bennett QB Southeastern Louisiana 6th Or 7th Round Prospect?

Very interesting late round prospect. This kid has raw talent but just needs direction and coaching. He could turn out to be something special if he has a few years behind someone like Drew and coached by someone like Sean.
Highlights
Bryan Bennett(QB)
HT: 6'2" WT: 211LBS.
POSITION: QB
SCHOOL: Southeastern Louisiana
ARM LENGTH: 31"
HANDS: 9 1/2"
COMBINE STATS:
40 YARD DASH: 4.81 SEC
VERTICAL JUMP: 37.0 INCH
BROAD JUMP: 125.0 INCH
3 CONE DRILL: 7.13 SEC
20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.20 SEC
Strengths:
Very good athlete. Posted impressive 37-inch vertical and 10-foot-5 broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine. Played behind Marcus Mariota at Oregon to begin his career. Has ability to hurt defenses as a scrambler and on running plays. Looks the part. Smooth, effortless release. Arm strength is no issue. Can put pepper on seam throws. Shows hints of being able to make anticipatory throws into tight windows. When able, will shuffle from pocket, keeping his eyes downfield and scanning for an open target.
Weaknesses:
Accuracy and ball placement are problematic. Needed short passing attack to bolster completion percentage in 2013 and saw that number fall to 49.5 percent as a senior. Footwork gets sloppy and a lack of willingness to step into throws when pocket inverts causes balls to sail. Showed signs of dropping eyes when facing interior penetration, including A-gap blitzes. Must improve willingness to get through progressions. Can be stubborn with unwillingness to come off initial target, often throwing into traffic.
Draft Projection:
6th Round
Bottom Line:
Plays the game with too much arm and not enough eyes at this stage. Doesn't appear to have the awareness or football intelligence teams typically look for in quarterbacks and his accuracy and decision making can be big issues at times. Bennett has an easy release with adequate arm talent and above-average athleticism. There are enough tools in his shed to end up as a project on a team's practice squad or a potential No. 3 quarterback.
So what do Y'all think? Is he worth a 6th or 7th?

Hard to take someone that's unwilling to go through his progressions, that's the definition of a successful qb

49.5% completion would not warrant a draft pick imo

Yeah the 49.5% does look really bad but its hard to know if that's all on him.
The reason why I posted this is because I've seen him mocked to us in a couple mocks over the last couple weeks.
So it turned into me doing some research on him. In some ways I like what I see and in some ways he scares the shite out of me.

Please God let the draft get here soon

He played hurt most of last season. Personally I think if Chip Kelly doesn't somehow get Mariota then he'll try to get BB in the later rounds. He was another Chip Kelly product at Oregon

What we are going to do now...start drafting for the Practice Squad? This would be a wasted pick.

I, personally, hope we don't take him. I've friends at SLU that tell me about his off the field habits. Not exactly someone that Sean would appreciate.

He passed the eye test at the combine IMO. He looked like one of the better arms in his group during throwing drills. Never seen him play but he looked better than guys like Hundley and Mannion throwing in shorts.

As a draft pick? No
As an UDFA? No

If an only if as i hope the Saints trade down an pick up 2 to 3 more puicks it would be good to use the last pick now the 230th on a Quaterback. As then you do not have to fight other teams for the best ufda Qb not drafted.

49.5 in a deep vertical offense though. I mean, not a lot of easy throws. Regardless, that needs work. He's worth a 6th.

In those highlight GIFs, who is the blue team?
Posted on 4/12/15 at 10:49 am to Meateye
He won't amount to anything
Posted on 4/12/15 at 11:04 am to Meateye
He'll need to learn how to run a pro system
Posted on 4/12/15 at 4:39 pm to Meateye
He was straight up garbage when I watched him against Tulane
