I guess i'm speculating on other people's thought processes, but I really do get the feeling sometimes that people around the league feel like what Brees does on an annual basis (especially since his arrival in New Orleans) is accomplished somehow with smoke and mirrors. Almost as if he's not as good as his statistics say he is.

Brees is an all time great, and there have been other years when he had a legit argument for MVP and got shafted. This isn't going to be one of them unless Manning's arm is just dead for the rest of the season

We're in the middle of what, 5 consecutive national tv games?

If he isn't getting major publicity for his great season by now, the award has already been decided.

I do think that if Brees somehow ends up winning more games than Manning especially with this schedule he could have a shot. I think he will need to be within about 3-4 tds 1-2 INTs, and a few hundred yards.

Even if Brees catches up to Manning in TD's there is no way that Manning would lose the MVP to Brees. Brees would have to have clearly better stats and be on a team with a better record to have a chance of winning that award. All tie breakers would go to Manning. We have seen how that situation plays out before.

Brees is good enough to win it. Unfortunately, he is never seriously considered. No matter what kid of insane numbers and wins he puts up, the conversation for MVP always goes through Manning, Brady and Rogers before Brees is considered. Rogers is out of the running, but Manning is 1, Brady is 2, and Brees is 3 at this point. I believe Brees deserves the award and is largely dismissed as a candidate.

Drew will have a chance when Manning retires.

Brees deserves it. Take Peyton off the broncos and they are still a playoff team with a decent qb. I don't think saints are a playoff team without Drew. fwiw imho

Brees would have a chance if he werent playing 3 of the top 5 defenses in the NFL the next 4 or 5 weeks.

Expect his per-game numbers to be down as a result. I dont see him concsistently going 300+ w/3TDs and 0 picks over the next 5 games.

Yeah, in terms of DVOA the Saints have the most difficult remaining schedule in the NFL. The Broncos have the second easiest

I'b be willing to bet just the opposite. After he didn't get it in 2009 after clearly outplaying Manning the entire year I knew it wasn't meant to be.

Brees should have won it in 2009 and still didn't get it. I'm starting to doubt he ever gets one.

That being said, I think the luster may have left Manning a little after the NE game. If Brees keeps playing at a high level in these prime time games, I think he has a very realistic shot.

If we win in Seattle, and given their loss against New England, I'd think Brees would have to be the front-runner.

outside of the saints winning the superbowl, and manning getting hurt... he'll always play second fiddle to someone. Amazed how overlooked he is with every record known to man. It's a media hype award, just like the eHeisman

Exactly. It's a team sport. I'd rather get the team trophy (Lombardi).

Id rather have a Superbowl trophy also but if we finish 14-2 it would be a disgrace for him not to get it with the schedule we have had this season

I've just accepted that Brees won't win an MVP, everytime he has an unbelievable year somehow someone even better comes along that season.

Manning deserves the award just based on stats, but the funny thing is imo it'd be his least remarkable of the MVP seasons he's had for me. The weapons he has in that offense are unbelievable
