He can appeal, but Goodell will be the one overseeing the appeal process.
Since it's the 2012 season, maybe he can appeal and get it brought down to the regular season, and be back for playoffs.
Best case scenario is Goodell set the bar so high knowing an appeal would take place so the appeal knocks it down to 8 games, half the season.

You do not sit across from the commissioner and lie to his face. That is fricking stupid and arrogant. Especially when the league is looking for an excuse to slap your arse for thumbing your nose at the league more than once. Payton is a good coach but he's developed a reputation as a prick.

Whats not to understand? It makes sense that they want people from out of town to come in and spend more money. If the hometeam (us) go to the ship this year I guarantee they figured out they would not make as much money.

I think Goodell couldn't ensure that we would not keep winning if he just took away draft picks. He had to take away the coach.
I also don't care how good Pete is or how much of a coach drew is; if you don't think this will bury the franchise this year, you are mistaken. You can't take away a coach and replace it with bitterness and expect us to somehow pull it out.
The saints and coaches got punished pretty hard, but the biggest punishment is to the fans of new orleans, and that is unfortunate.

So the captain comes out for the first home game of the season, runs down to the thirty with his hands raised and then drops them to signal the start of the who dat chant. Something is going wrong however; that's not the who dat chant they are screaming in the dome, it's something else.

Two misconceptions Saints fans seem to have:
1. The NFL is treating the Saints unfairly.
2. The Saints' punishment should be levied with Spygate's punishment in mind.
