Is King talking about us?

7. I think there’s a team with a very good veteran quarterback in his 30s that loves Blake Bortles. Just loves him. And if Bortles somehow falls into the twenties, this team is going to try to trade for a pick to get him.

Sounds more like Tampa. We are in the twenties, don't have to trade up to there.

Broncos is another good thought.

That's who I was thinking.

Manning has a much shorter shelf life right now than Brees. Could also be the Patriots since I don't think they have much faith in Mallett (who would?)

He could be talking about Denver. They don't have a pick in the 20s so they would have to try and trade up. Peyton is reaching the Favre/Rodgers stage of his career.

Pats usually trade back so I'd be fairly shocked if it was them but I'm not sure how many picks they have. Bortles could groom for two seasons and then take over in Denver. Seems like most likely option if for some reason he does fall.

I hope so, but shite like this makes me nervous. SP loves to tinker with his offense and it all falls apart with DB distributing.
Didn't realize he turned 35 this year, either. Granted, he hasn't been hit like Favre was in his career, but you're going to have to get some tires with more tread eventually.

We should get a QB in two seasons...MAYBE 3. I haven't seen the fall off just yet. I see a team in need of a few pieces around him.

More likely Pats or Broncos. There has been a lot of talk about the Pats scouting up all the top QBs and that they might seriously be looking for Brady's eventual successor. Though the Broncos should obviously be doing the same.

From what Payton said, they aren't going to ignore the QB position in the draft, but when he talks to Drew he says that he's going to keep playing for a long, long time.

The value would have to be extremely high for us to take one early, and even then we'd likely attempt a trade back first. No way we trade up for one in the first.

The only way I address the QB position in this draft is if we acquire more picks via trade down

Yeah I'm not saying we are targeting QB specifically, but if there is really great value over other positions at any of our picks we are either going to move back or take one.

I'm doubting it happens this year, but it wouldn't shock me.

Sounds likely. But I've read a couple of places that New England has been scouting the QBs in this draft very hard and would take certain QBs in the first if they fell to them.

That being said, I'm not sure how much Belichek and Fox really care about QBs. Payton is more of a guy who would fall in love with a QB. IMHO

So who knows.

Belichick knows without a good QB that thing will fall apart. It's not like they have guys like Moss or a Hernandez/Gronk combo a young guy can rely on.

Exactly. I love how it's just "known" that Osweiler is definitely the heir apparent in Denver but Mallet is a bust.

Hoodie doesn't strike me as the type to keep a bust on the roster at the most important position on the field.

Still think Mallet gets traded during the draft if the draft goes the right way (pats offer Mallet to a team that wants a QB but misses on their target in Rd 1 or even 2).

If we trade up for a QB this board would literally explode.
