Like you have some room to talk. You basically said Foster was guaranteed to go top 10 despite his recent shoulder surgery & numerous red flags.

because foster (a) didn't workout and (b) had so many red flags he became a media story more than a prospect. now he's a really good WLB prospect, don't get me wrong, but he became a big story after his combine snafu. the best way to make him a bigger story is to uncap his potential in light of the off the field issues. add in the fact that he couldn't work out, and he can literally be "as good of a prospect as [guy he's not close to] because how do you argue otherwise? that's how the media works.
the same shite happened with joe mixon to an extent (but he did work out and it was apparently amazing, so they could continue the story).
but if you go back and think about it, it's a VERY common draft archetype. the troubled, talented guy gets his potential WAY overblown to make a more intriguing story.

I never said he was guaranteed to go in the top 10. Don't put words in my mouth hombre
I expected him to go top 10 because as a prospect he is in that elite linebacker tier that doesn't come around often

Oh please. Those comparisons started months ago based on his tape before he ever had a red flag

He'll be a perennial all-pro
i'll take that bet
look he's a good WLB/4-3 prospect. he ain't THAT good. especially sharing the load as an ILB in a 3-4
he can be really productive as an ILB in a 3-4 but a perennial all-pro? dude

Good to know you can predict the future.

Time will tell won't it

elite WLBs come around pretty often and almost never go in the 1st round
lavonte david is probably the best WLB in the NFL and a guy who foster compares favorably to, and he was drafted in the late 2nd round

It's kind of funny you keep saying he can only play WLB because you saw a quote from an anonymous scout. He's basically the same size as Kwon Alexander but a better tackler, and Kwon has beeen a great MLB.

Yeah this board has me questioning everything with the comparisons to Kuechly, Willis, and LT.
I did not compare his ability to LT.
Someone stated that it was good to pass because RF is a "head case."
I'm just saying that Canton is filled with a lot of busts of guys that were head cases.
And, NO, I am most certainly not saying that RF is a HOF talent.
Merely stating that most guys in football, particularly LBs ... are not stable, level-headed, rocket scientists.

Picking Ram showed a lot of foresight, something the Saints have not done in recent years.

Sorta, I just don't like him at Mike and would rather see him play in the Will spot.

I have said this many times. Foster may end up being a good to great player in this league. It will depend on him going to the right franchise to make him successful...I know you could say that about many players, but Foster has flags and I personally do not trust this staff to be able to make him successful.
Look at some of the players that we have had and passed on...Nikovich, Jenkins and now Anthony.
On a personal note I have also said that I have actually been around Foster...My daughter went to Auburn High...I was a substitute in the school system during that time. We had plenty of friends that were teachers. I was around Foster in several different settings. Living in a college town I can tell you that over the years I have been around a ton of athletes from every sport.
This kid, Foster, was one of the dumbest individuals I have every been around. At one point during an ACT attempt he told the teacher he was done and went to sleep. He didn't even guess at the last 30 questions. He scored a 9 on the Wonderlic I guess that was some good guessing.
My take is that at Bama Foster was allowed to do one thing---go to the ball with Superior athletes around him to take on the action in front of him.
Do I expect him to have free paths like that in the NFL? No
Foster did not call the plays for Bama at MLB, another player did. Again he had one job...Get the ball.
Where the Saints going to allow him to have one job. We had that player in Anthony...and he lead the team in tackles, but the next year Allen needed him to play a scheme. A scheme that was my fear that Foster would have a lapse in judgment 3-4 times a game that could really hurt you.

Yes, but Kwon is capable of thinking himself out of a wet paper bag.

actually i haven't. i say that b/c he's like 230 lbs
again, another reason he compares very favorably to lavonte david (who came in at a similar size)

there are a couple of teams who could plug him in at MLB but most of them already have MLBs. he would certainly not play MLB for the saints
and, again, kwon went in the 4th
you can compare him to deion jones, too. he went in the mid-2nd
the saints are much better off drafting this years' jones or kwon or david in the 2nd-3rd for pure value reasons. there won't be an OT the quality of ramcyasdyfasdfsk in that range
those undersized, fast, seek-and-destroy guys are always available later
Posted on 4/28/17 at 8:47 am to okietiger
No known issues at Bama...And he's playing LB. One of tbe most ruthless positions on the field. So you kinda have to be a head case to play it.
Posted on 4/28/17 at 8:49 am to okietiger
We would certainly picked him at 32. 49ers realized this and thus traded up to take him before we did.
