the original:

December 18, 1983 Los Angeles Rams L 26-24

The winner would advance as a wildcard contender. The loser would stay home. the Rams drove 55 yards and with 6 seconds left in the season, Mike Lansford hit a 42 yard score to win for the Rams.
quote:

Ironically, it was L.A.'s only offensive points of the game. Rams scores came on a safety, a punt return TD and 2 interceptions returned for scores. Ram QB Vince Ferragamo didn't even complete a pass until the last drive.

I was supposed to get a real super bowl ring 2 years ago, and instead the team gave me a ring with cubic zirconium instead of real diamonds. It was some BS.

I vowed revenge that day!

'93 @ Cleveland. We lose 17-13 and Wade Wilson is sacked 10 times. Some of the Cleveland defenders say afterwards that they knew what we were going to run every play.

The missed extra point. (You know the one)

yeah I went to that game. left the house around 4 a.m. and it took about 7 and half hours to get there. My buddy had come across free tickets but I didn't want to go at first, I hate long road trips. I think our playoff chances were not very good at the time either. We were pretty pissed about it for the first couple of hours driving back but there was only so much to say about it after a while. I was over it by the time I got home.

Another one would be the Dallas game on Monday Night Football in 1994. Jimmy Spencer picked off Troy Aikman and ran it back for a touchdown. The ref spotted him out of bounds at like the 20 yard line, it sure as frick didn't look like he stepped out. The very next play, Jim Everett went up top to Quinn Early in the endzone. The DB clearly interfered before the ball got there but no flag was thrown. Saints had to kick a field goal instead. They may not have gone onto win that one, but you never know.It would have been nice to knock off the defending champ on MNF. Aikman had an awful game and made some other mistakes that kept us in it but our offense did not play very well in that one.

That pass to Steve Smith in 2OT helped.

And he almost won that Super Bowl until Kasay fricked them.

Chronologically

1. 1979 MNF Blowing a 35-14 lead on the Raiders. Saints ended 8-8, one game out of playoffs.
2. 1978-79 3 Twilight Zone losses to the Atlanda Failcounts.
3. 1983 (I think, might have been '84) Bum's decision to punt to the Rams instead of trying a FG. Rams won and knocked the Saints out.
4. 1988 Hail Mary pass at end of first half vs Vikings in 1st ever Saints playoff game - pretty much decided it.
5. 1991-92 Super Bowl caliber teams and best defense in NFL blowing home WC playoff games to Atl and Phil.
6. Having a freaking 9-4 record (beating future SB champion Tampa bay TWICE), and losing the last 3 games due to the pussiness of Jim Haslett.

My first thought was of the missed extra point, like so many here.

But that fades compared to:

Second worst: Benson talking about moving to San Antonio.

Worst ever: Haslett's dumb arse playing that smiling dumbfrick Aaron with Delhomme on the bench. And to make it worse, Haslett actually said one time that Jake was not 'starter quality or talent'. What an idiot.

Lots of good stuff here.

Missed extra point, awful, but fit the teams persona. Mediocre, on the edge, just not quite good enough.

I remember after watching the team making to the NFC Championship, although a beat down from the Bears happened, I thought for sure the Saints were going all the way. I did not sleep the night before from being too excited about the season only to see the Colts massacre, and a let down of a season. That of course would be followed by another let down year.

As mentioned, the personnel moves, well we've seen some ridiculous shite.

I'll say though, the most pissed off, or should I say hurt I've felt, was our last game, the 49ers. Never have I watched a rollercoaster wreck like that. So many emotions... holy shite, after 5 turnovers, we are going to pull it off. How? Is this real life? To then see Alex Smith throw a pass to Vernon Davis for the win. It will always hurt, forever, because to me, that team was the best Saints team ever. There's no question, had it not been for that slip up, we'd have witnessed another Superbowl.

The Eagles vs Saints 1992 playoff game was my first true taste of the Saints having something in the bag and then throwing it away. How in the hell did that great defense give up 26 points in the 4th quarter?

Andre Rison. Hated that guy. Every time it looked like we had the Falcons beat, he'd pull out some circus catch and we'd lose.

My main choices have been mentioned, so I'll list one that isn't as well remembered. Saints were leading the Cowboys by 1 point late when Ken Stabler is... I mean he actually... Gets a safety. Saints lose by one point.

And since no one else brought it up, I'll just mention the low point in Saints fans history, actually cheering when their own QB got injured. On MNF yet. Made us all look so good.

When Bum (very appropriate name) traded Archie. I must also mention the idiotic drafting of Russell Erxleben as a number one pick; somebody must have been having a LSD flashback.
