This. I like Anzalone, but I don't think we can afford to rely on him. I like that we seem to have built more depth, so there are plenty directions we can go but no real"must haves."
As I said earlier, I'd just bring back Robertson, don't see him costing much. And for a LB, he isn't that old.

First, we need more draft picks !!!
Trade to occur with Vaccaro .
1st RD: QB or DT/ DE depending on who is available.
3rd RD: DT or DE if QB selected in the 1st RD.
4th RD: Speed WR
5th RD: OL
5th RD: MLB
6th RD: BPA
7th RD: BPA

Rankins is fine as others have pointed out his role on this team is taking on the double team. He is freeing up other players and I'm fine with that.
No doubt Rankins next to a healthy Fairley would have been doing some damage.
I don't have an issue taking a DT to line up next to Rankins especially if your board is stacked that way. Lets say the Saints are drafting 20th-24th. If they get to their turn and the Saints have a DT that they have ranked top 15 on their board and he is best player left I have no issue with them taking him.
I believe Lattimore was the best player available.

A stud TE would be nice. Fleener has been doing really well this year but doesn't factor much into the game plan.

This is the year to snag a QB in the first.

Continue to build the lines.
1. DE - Okafor is a FA and we still don't have a true starter there. Maybe Hendrickson will prove to be that and Kikaha can be a situational rush guy, but that positions is still not that strong (better than Krueger's washed up arse though).
2. MLB - A true sideline to sideline thumper. Move Klein to SLB
3. OT - This is depending on what happens with Strief, but if he retires, you're one play away from starting Bryce Harris again.
4. DT - I like Davison, Rankins and Onymata but one more stud is always a plus.
5. TE - An all around TE would be good.
6. WR/RB - We'll need depth here but these positions are the easiest to fill.
The best teams have the best lines on both sides of the ball, not the best skill guys.
Duh, I forgot QB. It may be No. 1 but don't reach just to fill a need.

QB in round one has to be the pick

I expect Brees to re-sign and be effective for 2-4 more seasons, so:
1) WR. Thomas is great at what he does, but due to his lack of deep speed, I don't think that teams really gameplan for him like an Antonio Brown or Julio Jones. Snead is a really good slot WR. Ginn is an acceptable go route guy, but I want a stud deep WR that can be more effective than Ginn in the intermediate game. I understand why we made the Cooks trade and don't regret it, but adding a Cooks type would be great for the offense.
2) RDE: Kikaha looks like a good rotational player. I have high hopes for Mohammad, but obviously he's raw and the coaches aren't blown away with him (otherwise he'd be playing over the merely adequate Okafor). I also like Hendrickson, though he's looking like a DE/DT tweener.
3) LB: we have solid players and depth here, which we haven't had in forever, but no studs.
4) TE: Like LB, I'm fine with what we have, but if you can get a stud, have at it.

Not players with injury history.

In no specific order our needs on both ends
Offense:
QB - enough said, it's about future
WR - another stud receiver, granted snead ginn Thomas are a solid trio but there's room for improvement. Imagine adding another #1/2 type guy
TE - find a raw athletic gem
OT - we are going to be screwed if Harris ever plays.
Defense:
DE - Okafor is adequate and fa, kikaha is situational, Muhammad is raw, Hendrickson plays tweener. Maybe not a 1st round but a guy with talent would help. A rotation of rankins, Davison, onyemata, Hendrickson should be okay at DT.
LB - still have room for improvement, this group is arguably the worst on our D. Nobody stands out they're bad or average.
S - surprising, but honestly Vaccaro isn't a 10million dollar answer and I'm not sold on bell.

Some aren't high obviously like wr or qb, but realistic approach lol.

Hey guy.......
We only have 2 picks in the Top 3 Rounds.
When you get to the 4th round it’s almost Luck at that point.
Posted on 10/5/17 at 9:58 pm to Chad504boy
I we need linemen. On both sides.
Get blockers and run stuffers.
Then build from there. Brees makes anyone with hands a good receiver. But we have to plan on the future. Get a line that can hold. Use strong running game until you can find the right qb.

Agree, even if Brees comes back on another 2 year deal or whatever. Going after a QB in first 2 rounds would be good, as long as we aren't reaching for him.
2 years would be a perfect time for a rookie QB to learn or even compete.

We need a DT.
If Fairley doesn't play for us in 2018, then I agree.

Obviously, you'd like to draft best player available in the 1st round. That being said...I think DE & QB are the most likely to be taken with our 1st rounder at this point. Not exactly sure how comp picks work, but we might even get a comp pick for Okafor if we don't re-sign him.
The next tier would be TE(if Fleener is cut) & LB. I love our depth at LB, but we need to add a difference maker here & we can't use F.A. to accomplish this(actually we can probably afford an ILB, but OLB is pretty damn expensive).
Maybe even DT(if Fairley doesn't play in 2018) if a guy falls right in our lap. I assume we either re-sign Vaccaro or sign a vet F.A. at the Safety position. We're very young in the secondary...we need to have 1 vet here for leadership imo. We could also do what the Patriots do...Let Vaccaro walk, take the comp pick, draft a Safety & have him compete with Vonn Bell in the preseason.
It sucks that we don't have a 2nd rounder, but the 3rd round is usually loaded at RB, WR, OG/OC, DT, & LB. Generally speaking...the starter caliber players (I mean rookie starters...not projects that eventually become starters) at QB, TE, OT, DE, CB, & S are usually gone by about the mid 3rd round at the latest.
