Walter update

New Orleans Saints: Shane Ray, DE/OLB, Missouri
The Saints had major defensive issues this past season. Some of their players couldn't tackle whatsoever. They'll almost certainly take the best defensive player available.

Shane Ray was hurt at the NFL Combine, so he wasn't able to improve his draft stock like Dante Fowler or Vic Beasley. He consequently has fallen a bit out of circumstance. The Saints will be pleased to take him here as the top prospect available.

New Orleans Saints: Benardrick McKinney, LB, Mississippi State
More upgrades for the Saints' defense. The team needs a major boost in the middle of its stop unit, as Curtis Lofton has been a major disappointment for them.

New Orleans Saints: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon
The Saints desperately have to upgrade their pass defense, so it shouldn't surprise anyone if they double up on cornerbacks in the early stages of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Hey Blues, check out this kid. Looks like a good prospect for a mid round pick to become a Colston replacement.....

Highlight Reel
(Ignore the really shitty music)

Deontay Greenberry, WR, Houston
Height: 6-3 Weight: 200
Projected 40 Time: 4.55
Projected Round (2015): 3-5

2/14/15: Greenberry totaled 72 receptions for 841 yards and six touchdowns in 2014. He has good size, but if he has the speed to separate from NFL-caliber cornerbacks isn't clear. Greenberry should have returned for his senior year, but he entered the 2015 NFL Draft. His stock could be hurt by not receiving a Combine invite.

8/27/14: Greenberry was the first Scout.com "five star" recruit to sign with Houston. He made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2012 with 47 receptions for 569 yards and three touchdowns. Greenberry upped his game as a sophomore with 82 receptions for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns.

The junior has size to go with speed. It wouldn't be surprising if Greenberry has massive production in 2014.

Ok I can't take it no more, I can't believe nobody has noticed something on the Mock Draft Scores picture on the OP.

Yup

In one mock I had us taking 3 Lb'ers.
I think we have the worst LB'er corp in the league.

Hows south of the border Blu?
Had many caipirinhas?

Meat, I noticed first look. Proper etiquette to not mention.

Greenberry looks more lanky over the top deep threat than Colston almost was a TE type to me. Rotoworld had good comments-

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes Houston WR Deontay Greenberry was snubbed from the 2015 NFL combine.
"Despite abysmal blocking performances and dozens of drops on his collegiate résumé, Greenberry, who was a rare top recruit to end up at Houston, has the size/speed dimensions that NFL teams seek at the position," Brugler wrote. Frankly, Greenberry was a shocking omission. We think he probably made a mistake in declaring for the draft early, but Greenberry has all the tools to become a productive pro receiver. He's going to be drafted in the later rounds as a developmental prospect. The 6-feet-3, 198-pounder finished with 841 yards and six touchdowns in 2014 after collecting 82 receptions for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2013. We attribute a lot of the struggles to poor quarterback play.

-c'mon, it's Toon time! The Saints like to wait until the last year of their rookie deals to give playing time. It gets them nicer second contracts.

Goat, as advertised. Not for everyone but fits the bill for us. Flip flop tan lines denote happiness usually.

I agree about Toon I said it somewhere on here. The Kenny Stills thread I believe. Still wouldn't hurt to spend a 4 or 5 on him. He's a true boom or bust but his upside is huge!

updates from mockers I have followed before-

New Orleans - Vic Beasley, LB, Clemson
Beasley is another guy who amazed at the combine, and could even go a bit higher than this. The Saints would love for him to still be on the board, because his speed and pass rush ability off the edge is exactly what they need in the front seven.
https://www.footballsfuture.com/2015/nflmockdraft.html

13. New Orleans Saints—Arik Armstead (DE/DT Oregon)

Armstead is physically imposing at a legit 6’7” and 292 pounds, but right now he’s more effective setting the point of attack and letting others benefit from his dirty work. That sort of lunch pail attitude is needed in New Orleans where the linebackers had trouble finding daylight last season.
https://www.footballinsiders.com/2015-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-before-free-agency/

13. New Orleans Saints: Alvin “Bud” Dupree, OLB, Kentucky

- With the Saints having implemented a 3-4 defensive scheme under Rob Ryan, they have a need for a solid OLB. Alvin “Bud” Dupree is an athletic freak, who, with some technical development, can become one of the best pass rushers in the league. Unlike Randy Gregory, who is garnering many comparisons to Aldon Smith, Dupree has the athletic ability and the technical ability to grow quickly at the position. While Gregory has the potential to grow, Dupree is easily a starter at the position. The Saints will be getting an NFL ready player who can become a great pass rusher in due time.
https://www.nfldraftblitz.com/mackmock15.html

It looks like Dupree is evolving into the most likely to be available pass rusher. The more I read on him, the more I like.

Comments on Dupree from SECers that have seen his game?

It is just simply not going to happen. We are not drafting a pass rusher in the first round. Even though I would love to, its not going to happen.

I hate trading up, but in that scenario if White fell all the way to 11 I'd almost hope we'd give up a 2nd or 3rd to move up for him and stay put with the other first. Man I know we need line help, but that dude is hard to pass up if he's available right there.

Edit: Also, no way Coates or Maxx Williams are first round prospects.

FTFY

I like this a lot, however I wouldn't be upset if we went Beasley or Dupree over Collins in the first. But I could definitely be content with La'el.

I really want Beasley!!
