I've got some opinions on this.
As for Monty, I don't think he's the right fit for the culture we want to build here, nor the one we have right now. He's just not exciting or creative enough. He doesn't have any edginess about him either. Look at Sean Payton who Mickey Loomis and Benson hired together. His demeanor is totally different from Monty's. I feel like Monty has made it seem okay that this team is losing because they're young and he sticks to the same plan he's had before. When the Saints lose, Payton is ready to hold himself accountable, address the problem areas, and resolve that. If the problem is bad enough, he makes a drastic decision. Now, I understand the NFL is very different from the NBA, but from a philosophical and maybe even psychological standpoint, Monty is not a good fit.
On a side not, I think Monty's staff of assistants has to be the worst in the league.
Demps is a little different for me. I applaud him for doing a great job dumping bad contracts, and I think he's done a good job acquiring talent for this team. The only problem is that we shouldn't be impressed with how that talent got here. Ryan Anderson was the best move he made, but let's not forget that we still signed him to a pretty large contract for a backup player. I'm not hating on Anderson at all, I'm just making a point. Other than that, the talent we've acquired has come at a serious cost. Evans is here for $11m a year, Holiday is here for around $10m a year, and Gordon is here for $15m a year. You can easily say that we overpaid two out of three players. We have a mix and match team full of underachievers with little basketball IQ and experience. Sure there's talent, but even places like Milwaukee have some talent because they're willing to overpay for free agents a lot of teams aren't really bidding for. In all, Demps has done a job. I don't think it's a great job, nor do I think it's a bad job.
Feel free to pick this apart. I wrote it stream-of-consciousness style without much analysis.
Also, I don't really know what it will take for Monty to get axed.

After tonight, I'd just go ahead and do it now. Let an assistant coach/tank the rest of the year and have Karl on retainer. This is abysmal. Fans need to start boycotting to get Tom B's attention.
