I didn't think it was a big secret that Thibedeau hates the Bulls front office an is pissed about Deng. Not to mention that he likely does not want to rebuild a team, and the Rose is a huge question mark.
Below is an article that makes this pretty clear, if you read between the lines.

Its business, shite happens, but until he wins a title no one will care if he is pissed off. They were essential moves, they are preparing for a rebuild since they have the next brandon roy. Im sure he understands and has no desire to leave a premier baseketball program that will be in the hunt again within the next couple years.

Being mad and being able to do something about it are 2 entirely different things. If Monty got an extension then you know Thibs got one too.

The Chicago Bulls have given head coach Tom Thibodeau a four-year extension that will keep him in charge of the team through the 2016-17 season, according to a report on the NBA’s website.

Really?? Pels PR guys read PT? Well in that case hold on...
Mr PR guy tell the front office thanks for getting my hopes every single game then shifting on them every second half this season. EG10 has been the headache of this franchise on and off the court get rid of him. And can we get French fries after scoring just 85 points? Thanks, everyone

Ya because coaches have never forced their way out of a rebuilding project. I agree it's not likely, but it's the most plausible way to get a championship caliber coach IMO. Maybe I am being a homer, but for some reason, I believe the Thibs would jump at a chance to coach AD & Jrue.

Rivers getting traded to the Clippers isn't exactly a common occurrence.

Last time we believed he liked us he used us to try and get more money from Chicago, and he still signed with them for less than we offered.

I think if the Pels fire Monty we will have a lot of appeal to many coaches out there

My question is does Dell go if Monty goes?
If it means anything, they extended Monty about 3 months before Demps in 2012.
Demps shouldn't be getting a free pass. Said it in another thread, but this roster is the equivalent of a Chopped basket.
Ingredients to work with, but an odd collection without anything to help pull it all together.
Monty may not be creative enough to make it work, but I doubt there are many guys who could with this roster

I always took it to mean that Monty is just as "aw shucks" down home simple as he seems and he didn't negotiate very hard while Demps did. I'd bet dollars to donuts that Demps got a bigger raise and/or fewer team options than Monty did. Which also means there'd possibly be a greater cost to fire him.

You're just vying for Dells job now since that thread was started...can't say I blame you

I wasn't actually thinking about Rivers, though that is an odd example. I think the Thibodeau situation is more similar to what happened with Larry Brown and the Pistons.
It's not common that high quality coaches change teams, but that's because they generally are competing for championships.
It's equally as rare to see a high level coach build a team, have it fall apart, and then stick around for another rebuild. They generally get fired or move on. The only real counter example I can think of is Rick Carlisle.

Dont know about any of that. I do doubt Monty's agent just rolled over in negotiations though.
It probably means nothing (maybe get him locked up before training camp?), but I thought it was something to note
