Yeah. More that it seems it was 2 years spent with a coach that didn't buy in. That is sub optimal.

As for Evans, it was always a strange move coming after Holiday. But I'll throw this out there: to me, Holiday isnt your classic lead ball handler. Evans is better at it IMO. If you plan to use Holiday off ball more as your secondary ball handler/D and 3 combo guard, it makes some more sense.

As for SFs, Demps just seemed allergic to the position. I get giving Aminu a try on lottery teams, but it was obvious they needed more there for some time. I even remember David Thorpe on a BSS pod saying Aminu projects as more 4 than 3. Guess that's why they pay him the big bucks

During the entire history of the Hornican franchise in NO, the 2 or the 3 has been a serious issue. Weird.

But Evans also flies in the face of the running team that Demps was supposedly building. He just not very effective in the open court.

It's really baffling, and he still hasn't addressed it.

You got me thinking what the hell he was up to these days. Turns out, he's playing in Puerto Rico. Who even knew there was a pro league in PR?

might do some if I get bored

About SF: I'm really interested about how QPon plays in this system. It's perfect for the areas he shot from.

That's not always true. He was effective in transition in Sacramento. We have no idea how much the team emphasized slowing it down v Evans just wanting to do that. Based on Monty's track record, I'd venture the team wanted to keep things slow.

I wonder if his poor FG% at the rim in NO compared to SAC is related to a lack of transition opportunities.

Tyreke the positionless player ran every time he got a rebound or steal, Tyreke the team's starting point guard walked everything up. Norris Cole was going full speed the first few games he was here and then "mysteriously" started slowing it down. Monty Ball.

That probably is a contributor and I'd also say spacing is an issue. I'm interested to see if the Tyreke/Asik 2 man game goes better when they only have 2 players to beat instead of 3-4 guys in the paint. Could Tyreke start looking not out of control and Asik start looking competent?

Honestly, I'd be happy if they made the playoffs. Not expecting much. Hate to be a debbie downer but I'm not a fan of any of the off-season moves.

Never were really going to make any moves.

2nd round , better offensive production. I think our first few weeks will be tough. Mainly because we have a new coaching staff and it will take a little while to know what adjustments to make, some fine tuning, and everyone to be in the groove. I think December will be interesting

This is true, but my point had more to do with his ineffectiveness when he actually did push the ball. He almost always picked the ball up like a running back and bulldogged his way to a terrible layup attempt.

Well then Gentry is in trouble- Holiday was just barely better in transition according to NBA.com with basically the same TO rate.

Again, Evans produced in transition in Sacramento, it was one his biggest strengths coming to New Orleans. Going uptempo should be good for him.

The issue for Evans isn't turnovers. He gets up a shot, so no TO, but it's often an absolutely horrid shot.

I hope so. In the half-court, he's basically a more physical version of Vasquez (who you lovingly refer to as Empty Stats), so he needs to be good somewhere. I just haven't seen it. He did improve at the end of the season, but never got to a point where it seemed he was seeing the court well.

It really is a shame that Aminu has looked like the best fast break distributor we have had since CP3.

I think we make the playoffs; highest seed I can see is a 4, lowest is the 8 again. If we can make it to the 2nd round I would consider it a huge success and a great season to build on.

That was me, not corndeaux, and I was quoting Monty.
